Default LT1 intake porting to my afr 220's

i just got some ported afr 220's and want to gasket match my LT1 intake. how crucial is it to get it right? being FI i didnt know if i could hurt anything by taking the ports all the way out to the gasket but with NA you have to be careful where you port! anyone know?

Don't match the ports to the gasket.
Just match the manifold ports to the head ports.
The port should steadily get wider as it goes back to plenum area and have it end up about .100-.120 wider at the plenum area.

The stock intake will really restrict those heads. To get close you will likely need to do some welding (around the injectors) to open the intake up enough to match the heads flow potential.

Your wasting your time messing with the stock lt1 intake. You have awesome heads, and your talking about FI? You are in need of a single plane intake for sure. Look into this: https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...gle-plane.html

LT1 intake won't be big enough. I have 216 AFR's from LE, an I tried to mate it with my custom LT1 intake and welding would needed to be done to the top of the LT1 intake ports. Your heads should have roughly a 2.80 Cross section, can't get that with the LT1 without some welding.

yes it will, but the intake runner will not match the intake ports on the heads.

O but you can. The TFS 195's can be knocked out to 215cc, just the right shop has to do it

I think LE did those AFR 216's that are in question.

Not to stray from the topic, but if your going to run those AFR 220's, for optimal performance you should run a single plane setup, either with a elbow/TB or a 4-hole TB, but then again thats my opinion.

Yup, he took my Dart Pro1s from 180 to 211.
Also did the stock intake to match.
