I've seen two Camaro's last week and they both had the security lights on.in the guage cluster. What would cause this and does it effect it's reliability. My 94 v6 with 180,000 miles never had that problem. thanks, John

My 95 does this sometimes and it drives me absolutely insane. It has resulted in me running over, killing one of my cats, and being late to work more times than I can count.
EDIT: SHbox, I read that. Mine does it on startup and won't start most of the time. It has done it a maximum of four times in a row which is ungodly annoying. Sometimes though when I am driving it comes on too. I read.....
"If the system detects a fault with the lock cylinder circuit after the engine is already running, the SECURITY lamp will light. The engine will be able to be restarted. This is called “fault enable mode”. (The system saw a good reading from the key at one point during a previous ignition cycle before the failure. So, it considers it a problem and not someone trying to steal the car.) When in fault enable mode, PASSKey protection is disabled until the problem is repaired. Once repaired, the SECURITY lamp will go out about after about 1 minute after the key is turned on."
That helps figure out the basis of the issue.
I like the resistor option the best as I don't want to have any potential issues with this crap anymore.
Are these diagrams the same for all engine / trans options? I have a 95 V6 / A4 car and I've noticed some of the wiring is different in my 93 V8 / A4 car.
