Default Converter-Lock up or not? 9.5" or 10.5"? help?

Sorry to sound like a noob but im trying to get some information together so I can order parts.

Im looking into a Lloyd Elliot cam for my LT1 trans am. I would like a 3000-3200 stall converter to match. Whats my best bet according to your experience.

On precisions website they have a couple of different options for their vigilante series converters. What will fit my 4L60E? and do I want a lock up converter? I have 3.73's in a factory 10-bolt.

i've heard that a lock up converter will give you a little bit better gas mileage, but not a night and day difference. Tranny last a tad bit longer to with lock up that i have read.

I would get a Lock-up Convertor if you plan on driving it on the street.. I would get upwards of a 3600 Stall if you are putting a decent cam in it.

Do you run a trans brake? if i was looking at the right website that was a $500+ converter, is that correct? And are there any places that sell a cheaper equivalent?

I do not run a trans brake. I had a tci stall b4 this 1 and got it for around $400. On stalls you get what you pay for tho. I would spend the extra $ and get a good 1. Yank, circle d, vig., and edge.

I'd say anything upwards of 3000, and a 9.5" stall would be lighter on the rotational mass.

I've had them all and recommend Yank. sounds like a SS3600 is what you want. It will drive like competing 3000 and 3200 converters; until you mash the pedal, then it shows its stuff.
Not currently running a Yank in my heads/cam setup, but I would be if the ATI in there wasn't a steal.

Just remember that Vig. under rates their converters. A Vig. 3600 compared to a SS3600 will feel looser. As far as discs, you only need the single unless you are planning on locking it up in 3rd gear at the track. Locking it up in 3rd is rarely done with most set-ups.

In your opinion would you gain any E.T. or miler per hour with a higher stall than 3600? Only reason I ask is im looking @ Lloyd elliots 230/234 cam (my heads are ported) and according to yank converters they suggest a PT4000

I'd go with the Yank. They are the best at getting you the correct converter for your setup. You'll probably gain both ET and mph with it versus a Vig 3600. I can't tell you what the PT will feel like on the street though; I'm more familiar with their SS converters.
