Default Ls1 t56 ???

Can you install an LS1 T56 with LS1 bellhousing, LS1 clutch (hydraulics, slave, etc) in an LT1 car? If not please be specific as to why...flywheel, bellhousing spacing, etc. I found a T56 out of an LS car and like there slave cylinder setup much better than the clutch fork and it is a helluva deal so I would like to know if I can use it. Thanks

I know the hydraulics are different and the bellhousing on an LS has one more mounting bolt but other than that are there any real differences?

They have different input shafts and the bell housings are different. Not sure what else is different but to answer your question(s) it wont work. Good luck......

Its certainly not a lot of work, takes about 10mins to swap them.

You need a different bell housing, input shaft, and you have to keep the lt1 clutch setup.

I didn't say time wise. To do all the work + $ to put an LS1 T-56 in. Yeah its a lot. If you had both trans sitting in front of you out of the car well than its a no brainer. I should have been more specific.

Im putting an LS1 engine/T-56 into my 95 Z28 camaro and i got the tranny all done. We took the LT1 T-56 and mated it to the LS1 engine. All we had to do was input shaft, mid plate, bellhousing, slave cylinder, and i think that was pretty much it? We took it to a local transmission shop to put it all together and reseal it.

merv is very correct about the end play. you need a shim kit if you start swapping stuff

next you need a clutch, lt flywheel ls pr. plate assembly.

as mentioned a mid plate and also a 0.500" between the trans and b/h.

you need to modify your trans mount as well, and your trans tunnel, if i recall correctly.

have fun! if you don't buy it would you pm me if it is really that good of a deal.

Actually the Tranny Mount location is the same..the Case & Tailshaft is identical between the two, the difference is the Front Plate & Bell Housing. No need to modify anything on the Tranny Tunnel either, these cars are identical from 93-02.

If he is going to be using an LS1 K-member, which I highly suggest, then the LS1 & T56 will line up in stock location without a problem..mine lines up perfect.

The best way here instead of all the shimming and crap is to just swap units..one of the guys is looking for a LT1 T56, the other guy is looking for a LS1 T56 so just swap..lol
