If the LT5 would've stuck around and been alot cheaper..them Ford boys would've been left in the dust a long time ago..considerably more than they already are..lol

Well I take that back..the Caddy STSV is kinda similar..just with a Blower..

If I wasn't so in love with Corvettes, I would probably buy one

I like the new Mustang and yes, I'd rather have a used Vette than a new Mustang...

The lt5 was not a gm motor, it was from lotus.

I agree sadly enough... Gm has the power, but everything they have out is a PIG!!! The g8=pig, the new camaro=pig, The corvette= out of most peoples price range. The only car I really dig right now from gm is the new cobalt ss. Light weight with lots of capability, but then your back to dickin around with FWD=Fail(not bad if your into roll racing tho)!! The 4th gen is still the best bang for the buck imo...

Looks friggin awesome. Ford might finally have made an engine equal to the LSx when looking at the big picture.
That is why they made to beat the chevy, but guess what you can still buy a camaro ss for atleast 10gs less and still kick the **** out of the car!!!! chevy Ftw

I don't know if I'd pay 33,000 for a mustang, probably will be more like 35+ with the new motor. It's nice and I like what they're doing, just not for me.

Right on. I would expect a motor as dimensionally large as the Ford DOHC mod motor to be over 400 cubic inches. Big 5.0 liters? Lay over the horsepower curve of the LS3 vs the new 5.0 to see the real advantage. The LS3 makes so much more power down low, the 5.0 will need every bit of its huge weight advantage just to be even with the overweight Camaro at the end of the 1/4 mile. Peak power doesn't mean a lot when you are sitting outside of you power range for the 1st 200 feet of the 1/4 mile or coming out of a slow corner on a road course.

The more ideal engine for the Mustang would be the LS3. More power under the curve than an equivalent mod motor, more compact, and 60 to 70 lbs lighter than a mod motor... Smaller, lighter, faster, Advantage LS engine! Ford should be buying engines from GM. This really explains the popularity of people putting LS motors in Fox bodies.

Your cracking me up commenting on the power curves of the 5.0 like already knowing what it looks like overlayed to LSx. The thing is not even available yet
Maybe some has a new 5.0 dyno chart to throw up.

Lot of fodder for the Ford guys in this thread.

You don't have to have the chart to know a motor that small will have to sacrifice low end to make such a large peak horsepower number. You can scale it up from a 4.6 and you would be pretty close.

Nice to see ford stepping up because the new mustang GT is MAD SLOW i beat one in my 94 Formula and the guy just couldn't recover from the shock and i only have bolt-ons so i thought he would spank me but boy oh boy still nice to have the 5.0 back!

Thats down right cold!
Anyway, The Mustang guys can be pissed at Ford for sticking them with a little engine and we can be upset with GM for sticking us with an overweight Camaro.

I'm sticking with my LS3 in a 2011 Mustang idea; Bottom 12 second Mustang!

Variable valve timing should help the bottom end without sacrificing too much on the big end.

Besides...

VTECH JUST KICKED IN YO!!!!

I was reffering to the current 3V stuff previously.

The have the blockers under the plenum to keep up velocity and tq.

they are nothing to sneeze at. Anyone claiming to beat one with a bolt on lt1 car I just dont see it. they dont impress me but lets be realistic here...... new camaros lay down some serious serious numbers, but it does not matter they are still slow as hell and ugly

i cant wait to get a race in against one. and the new camaro.

i love high RPM engines, sounds like they are moving in the right direction.

but i gotta say it the new mustang has way more appeal to me than the new camaro.

The new Mustang would be more appealing if they didn't screw up the back end. It's gotten worse and worse. The best looking recent Mustang's were from '99-'04. I think they nailed it with those models. the '05+ models I think are just horrible except what they did with the headlights.
