I personally like the look of the 05+ Mustangs. I just hate how everybody and their mom here has one. Thats why I don't really want one. The new engine would be my only excuse to turn to the dark side.

Whereas C5's and C6's are much more rare here.. thats more my style and taste

i heard it was done for safety and aerodynamic reasons.

but i agree with you. Im getting tired of safety dictating everything.

But Ford is also in a better position cash wise as well....the camaro needs to make a good sales case and at the end of its first year of production in eight years....its tough to say what future the camaro has, Lets hope the sales stay strong then Im sure GM would be willing to up the ante sooner, which brings me to another point do we even have any info on the 11-12 Camaro and what they may or may not bring to the table. But in all other regards props to ford across the board!

I beleive the new styling of the 2010 and 2011 is due to its debut in Nascar this year.

the 5.0 engine has been around for awhile but only in Australia. Ford was looking at only offereing it in a Boss special edition a few years ago. I guess with the new Camaro they felt the need to actually increase the hp/tq of the GT

my old 4v cobra would have spanked 85 plus percent of the LT1's on this board and at least 60 percent of the lsx's

Lots of good responses, Id like to mention that Ford's going in the right direction with small cube big power. They were selling 3 Mustangs for 1 F-body years ago.

Some people forget Mustang sales isn't about just 1/4 racing, its what customers want like driveability, styling, and handling. I think that new Mustang GT will fall right around same price range as Camaro SS.

I agree with some of the GM car weighing too much. Something tells me those new Mustang GT are going to do circles around the new Camaro SS in stock form.

Man idk how some of you guys are doubtin GM power! They've always been faster and Ford has always responded a few years late! Nothing here is new

92 GM introduces LT1 and SPANKS the 5.0 GT's a cobra's
4 years later...
96 Ford Introduces the DOHC 4.6 in the SVT and basically matches the LT1

97 GM Introduces the LS1 and DESTROYS the 4.6 cobra DOHC motor
6 years later...
03 Ford Basically Matches the late LS1's with a forced induction 4.6

05 Ford basically downgrades to the regular 4.6 305HP DOHC motor and makes a car that runs like an LT1 in the 1/4 mile...
The same year GM's using LS2 400HP motors in their vettes/GTO's/SSR's lol...

Ford kept using the same 4.6 in their cars thru '10...which where still routinely rivaled BY GM's 1997 technology!...

Now they have a motor that ALMOST matches GM's performance motors that have been around for a few years??? (LS3 vs. new 5.0) Nothing is new here people...just the same ol Ford late responce trying to be as fast as chevy and failing...

Give it 2-3 years...
GM > Ford

I'm not saying the new mustang's arent a killer design, just saying, they're just matching GM's 2008 power 3 years later...they don't ever top GM, they try to match it, and by the time they figure it out, GM keeps moving forward and leaves them in the dust.

lol Thanks for pointing that out.

Now we're up to like 7 or 8 pushrod cars, instead of 6.

Last time I checked the mustang has been faster than any stock f-body since 03, and it doesn't look like that is going to change any time soon, especially with the 03-04 cobra still being faster than the 2010 camaro from the factory. The sad part is the mid level mustang is going to beat the top level camaro with ease next year.

i'm curious to see if thats as big as the new dohc302 can go. i know the older mod motors you can stroke them out to 302, but i wonder if this one can be stroked to a 347dohc. if so its gonna be a bad *** motor. but the new mustang and new camaro are pretty heavy, it'll be an interesting heads up race.
