Default LT1 Opti SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

This opti system has to be the worst setup in the world. I cannot get the balancer off!!! Anyone run into that problem??? I am ready to push the car out for the garbage truck. Any pointers on how to change the opti without having a stroke??

I have one but now I have to get different bolts. The ones that came with the puller are the wrong size.

you can get a puller but i have always used a brass hammer and just hit it till it falls off dont hit it to hard so that the edge of the pulley doesnt chip

How do you hit it? From the back or on the edge? I am open to anything.

You're ignorant as hell to say the Opti Spark setup is the worst in the world because you have Down's Syndrome and can't get the balancer off.. Good luck none the less.

Actually, I never had to remove the balancer to replace the optispark. The water pump was the only thing on the way. Patience is the virtue, my friend.

"So you are saying there is a chance" is there a specific way to do that or just be careful?

I have Down's syndrome, ADD, and a little man complex, but I just get the right pulley puller and they come right off. Put some axle grease on the crank snout before you put it back on.

Rebuild the opti with an MSD kit or just get an MSD opti. Some people even bitch about the MSD, but mine has been great. Just put red loctite on the rotor screws before you install.

And yes, you can swap it with the damper on, but for me it's been a bitch to line it up when the damper is there.

Did I insult you personally? Did you design this setup?

I have the 3 bolts out and you are saying that there is a ring also? I do not know anything about these cars. So I am trying to learn.

Take the three bolts out, tap the outer ring of the balancer and it will come off. The center part will stay mounted.

You're probably using the wrong puller. A standard 3-JAW puller works just fine.

if you have a autozone hub puller the bolts they provide are wrong, what you can do is get 3 nuts you might have around the house ( i did ) put the bolt threw the hole and a nut on the back side. should pop right off
