Default LT1 Surges at Idle after Tune Up?????

I have done some research and cannot find any info on the problem? I just replaced the Opti cap and rotor, water pump and coil. I removed the A.I.R pump when doing this (no tune for the removal) could this cause the car to surge due to it looking for the pump at idle? I had a problem with the elbow, but I fixed that with a new elbow. It only surges when it starts to warm up?

Symptoms: when it warms up it starts surging and labor knocking?? You can smell it getting fat when it surges?? It also labor knocks real bad when it idles down? If you kill the car or it dies, it grunts like the timing is too hight?? Anyone ever seen this or had this problem? I have not drove the car yet after the tune up, just warming it up for the purge of the cooling system. I also did a TB bypass but I do not think this could cause anything?? The coolant is full and purged?

I don't know if the car surged before the tune up due to it running so bad.

Question: Can you run 87 octane in the LT1 or does it have too much compression and you need to run 93? I have 87 in the car now and was wondering if this is causing my problem and now the car is trying to adjust the timing for crap gas and giving me grief?

The GM owners manual says you need to run 91 or higher.

I don't have an owners manual, I guess I need to find one. Will that cause the labor knocking and surging?

Under certain conditions, sure. Detonation isn't fun.

Have you checked your fuel pressure? And 7 times out of 10, replacing just the cap and rotor on the optispark won't fix the problem.

Don't waste the OPs money on octane booster. They do raise the octane of the fuel yes but only in tenths of a point. If an octane booster advertises a 8 point increase in octane, it's actually 8/10th of a point. So instead of 87, you'd have 87.8 octane fuel.

Additionally, have the PCM scanned for codes. Not all codes set the SES light.

I do not have a SES light (YET). I am going to drive it today and see how it drives? I will try to get the gas out and put the correct in.
