thermostat

what thermostat should i go with 96 trans am 5,7 m6 mods in sig and also going with a elc wp csr

Order a 160 thermostat from summit or jegs. Car wont run over 175ish while in clean air.

Yeah, wrong. The thermostat itself won't make the car run cooler (at least not for an extended period of time). You need earlier fan activation via PCM programming and/or a manual fan switch to fully take advantage of the thermostat.

The thermostat alone cannot cause the car to run 20 degrees cooler. All it does is delay how long it takes for the car to warm up. It is used in conjunction with earlier fan programming (which I see you have a tune from Ion).

Ramair95 is right. The thermostat wont make that big of a difference unless you have the fans come on with it to lower the temp of the coolant

Time for some headers and a tune. Tune all the crap out you don't need and power tune as well as like ramair said get those fans to turn on sooner. My 383 runs right at 195 on a hot day no A/C with fans tuned low and a 160deg thermo.
