small runners work better with smaller cams? really? what about l92s in 5000 lb trucks that get 20+ mpg? small heads need MORE cam, bigger heads need LESS cam. I'll put my AFRs against your peanut port trick flows for under the curve and peak torque any day, that's not a shot at your build, i'm just saying smaller isn't necessarily better.

Big runners + Small motor = TURD. Big heads needs a big cam PERIOD!!! P.S. I love cruising my city with my HOT CAM without all that cam surge...

That could not be further from the truth. Check this thread out, it will explain why you are wrong. Not trying to be a dick just passing along a good thread that I have been reading alot of lately, will start to make complete sense at around page 10 or so, a long read but very educating.

...and backpressure makes more tq too, right???

Runner size does not dictate air velocity or low end tq. An LS3 has 260cc intake runner and can make 500rwtq with a baby 22x duration cam.

Doesn't sound lazy to me at all.

I think you need to read that thread that you posted up again. It speaks in my favor. Those numbers look big because they are talking about LS1's. A small motor with big heads need to spin more RPM to take advantage of those big heads and it needs a big cam that can take it there...

Which is exactly why you see alot of the LS2 GTO guys running small-medium size grinds with LS3 head swaps and making equal and many times better numbers (much better drivability too) versus guys running much larger camshafts with ~220cc ported LS6 heads.

I doubt you finished reading all 21 pages in five minutes...

In a very brief nutshell, good flowing heads allow you to run less cam. Crappy heads require more cam to bandaid the shitty flow of the heads and feed the motor its CFM requirement.

You guys are comparing apples to oranges. I guess I need to put some AFR 227's on my stock bottom end with the Hot Cam and spin it to 5900 RPM and expect MAX results...

Maybe I need to re-phrase what I am trying to say. A bigger motor needs bigger heads/cam for Max performance. A smaller motor/stock bottom end motor can benefit from a smaller head/cam package if you want to stay in the SAFE ZONE while making good power 'under the curve' or you can REV IT TO THE MOON with the bigger package and take a chance at blowing it up. If I'm wrong I will stop posting in this thread and move on...

Exactly! You can get good flowing heads in a small runner that will work good with a stock cube motor and you won't have to rev it so high. You can also get big runner heads that flow the same, but you will have to rev it up more because it's going to be lazy. So you will need a bigger cam to take it to that higher RPM to keep power up. example: 260cfm with 180cc heads moves air faster than 260cfm with 200cc heads. Faster moving air = better throttle response, and more hp/tq at more usable RPM...

lets all regurgitate internet hearsay...

i'll speak from experience. fastfatboy should come in and talk about his experience with a 245cc head street car, the one he drives to the beach, and the one he drives to the track to run mid 10s.
