ummm....I just don't get anyone having a gen1 sbc vs. LTx debate. They are both small block chevy 23* head engines. It's like a GEN3 vs. GEN4 LSx arguement. LOL

p.s. Mark IV BBC >Gen VI > GenV BBC. LOL

Diffference is there are good blocks and much better heads for the gen 1 than an LT1! DUH!

And Jake is right, bottles are for babies! Men do it NA! I sprayed mine one afternoon because there was supposed yo be a nine second Buick GN coming from Texas. There wasn't. They gave me the fastest one, who could only run 10.80. LOL

That post was meant as a joke since the LT1 is just variation on the original small block.
I agree on NA power....sure turbos/blowers/N2O make more power overall, but there is just something about a rowdy NA motor.

Well gee I wonder why, no aftermarket support. Besides it all cost the same when you go aftermarket, so why not get a BBC and skip spending a small fortune on the top end for a sbc when a off the shelf set of chiefs will get me in the low 8's.

Yeah, but every garbage truck in town has one of those in it. Lmao!
Actually, if course they are all diesel. But that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

We'll see if you can run as fast as another old guy did about ten years ago: Joe Overton went 9.30s.

Last edited by Ed Wright; 02-27-2013 at 07:53 AM. Reason: Typed 10.30s, correct was 9.30s. Duh!

Jake-that LSM tool is fawking sweet! If drag week comes near the northeast I am going to head out to the closest track for the day to spectate. No way in hell would I compete in it though, lol. 3-4 hours straight, behind the wheel of my car and i'd want to shoot someone.

Day 4 drive last year was 460ish miles on I40. It took us 12 hours.....

Saw this a few months ago on fb. It's the ultimate "if you want something done right build the entire thing from scratch yourself."

The real question is, can I get it to fit under the cowl?
