Check for vacuum leaks, AC could be unrelated. If RPMS are dropping and check engine light comes on the car may have a leak after the maf, this would cause it to run crazy lean intermittently and near stall out, throw a o2 sensor lean code and then catch itself and eventually run fine.

my car did this and it turned out be my left side O2 sensor. when the sensor wasnt reading correctly, the car kicked itself back into open loop and would run correctly because it wasnt running off data from the sensor. replaced my O2's and problem was gone. if its saying misfire id check the ICM or the coil. you can have the module tested at any local parts store.

it cant be a ramdom missfire cause obd1 doesnt have that code. maybe o2 sensor. they wer pretty black last time i had them out. theres no way theres no way the ac is unrelated. its done it the exact same way 3 times. cuts out for a sec, check engine light, ac dies. turn car off then on and its like it never happened

ill check the code when i get to work tomorrow. autozone doesnt check obd1

All of them that I have been to. Pepboys card holders are supposed to get free code scans, but they told me 50 bucks when I went in one time, damn scammers.

There are so many mysterious problem threads around here lately.
Can we make a list of symptoms for failing optisparks?
That'd be some good info for people who don't know that they are beating a dead horse.

its quite possible that when your was tuned they set it so that when the SES light comes on it shuts down accessories like the AC so that the car can help to protect itself. i know when the SES light comes on in my 95 all the fans kick on and run at full speed as a fail safe.... just an idea
