Killer tq curve, should make that little car scoot!

Do you have the corrected numbers? Looks like it was pretty cool out with low humidity, and results are uncorrected. Shouldn't drop TOO much corrected, just curious .

I forgot to take the corrected sheet but you are right SAE numbers were about 5% less so around 370 / 370 .

Still pretty good because I have shorty headers 1 1/2" and a single 3" exhaust line. with resonator and muffler. ( very quiet ) .

Thought it wouldve did a little more with the higher compression and extra cubes. Still an awesome torque curve mentioned above!

391/387 uncorrected on a LE2 383 I assume through a 10 bolt.
Not bad but I think there is some power beig left on the table. Maybe in the tune.

Yeap , very conservative tune , baby cam , restricted exhaust , shorty headers ( 1 1/2" ) .

I know it can go over 400HP at the wheels

Maybe one day but for now I really like what I have.

That engine is probably plenty for that car, any luck with traction?

The powerband is very tractable so the car is a blast to drive.
I have 10" wheels on the back with 275 Drag Radial so traction isn't that bad of a issue but when tires are cold you have to be carefull depending of the kind of pavement you are on.

Yeh forgot you were running shorties and that exhaust is deadly quiet so im sure with those things your probubly leaving another 20rwhp on the table. Hope to get my car home from storage this weekend and get my *** to work doing the teardown!

I cam in on the tail end of the thread and ASSumed the OP had an f-body. Now I understand hes in a RX7 and there are limitations to running optimum exhaust. That thing will fly.

A coworker has a 2800# Miata with a stroked to 331, AFR headed, Ford 302 making 370 at the wheels. Damn thing is insane to drive and went 11.8 on a 2.3 60ft cause it cant be launched hard or the rear end will explode. It is setup for cone racing, not drag racing. He is running corked up shorty exhaust too.

Updating my own thread for personal reference.

Over 1 & 1/2 year of driving ( about 20,000KM ) motor still run perfectly.

The only issues I had with the motor were both on cylinder # 2 .

1st: I broke a rocker nut April 2012.

2nd: On the same cylinder but the other valve I broke a valve spring .
I have no idea why it broke but I replaced it and went through the whole summer with no other issue.

Last week I've decided to swap my emission camshaft for a non emission .

I have no dyno numbers yet but the powerband is different for sure.
I'm not expecting much gain because of my tiny 1 1/2" shorties and my single exhaust line but the car sounds nice.

December 10th 2012.

If someone was crazy enough to read all pages then I want to let you know the motor died on Nov. 15 2012 so you read all that for nothing....

Funeral here !

I remember reading this thread 2 years ago, and just reread the entire thing getting all excited to hear some track times and some nice updates, and never put 2 and 2 together that you were the guy with the 1218 failures. Sucks man, how did the piston fare when that valve smacked into it?

*edit* just saw the pics, ouch.
