It was just a little pipe I put there not to get sillicone into it when I was sealing the intale.

I have 2 oil sending unit. 1 for my OEM gauge and one for a autometer gauge that were installed there with a "Y" but this year I'll move them away ( bolted on the firewall ) using AN fittings and 1 braided hose because with the "Y" fitting one sending unit sometime was rubbing on the firewall and I'm affraid it will one day break.

Almost ready to put the new motor in.

Engine bay has been repainted , all I have left to do is split my T56 from my actual motor , clean it , inspect the clutch and if OK I'll bolt it up to the new motor and drop everything in the new clean engine bay.

Dec 7th 2010.

I have split the transmission from the motor and realized that I will need some new parts and I will need some help from you.

The pressure plate appears to be fine but how do I check the release bearing ?

Pilot bearing was shot I know that...

Looks like I should replace the friction plate but I went on Summit web site and there is many material to choose from so I don't know what to buy.

The clutch disk has nothing special , according to the one who sold me the car it was Carbon Kevlar solid disk but I think it is just a regular clutch. What do you think ?

You can see the wear marks , is it enough to replace it ?

I don't want a clutch too agressive since I like just to cruise around and go to the track maybe 5 to 7 times a year and I don't launch like a madman .

I'll appreciate your input and suggestions.

Please if you quote this message please remove the pictures because I'm picture freak and there is a few of them.......

I have had a good experience with the spec 3, if you have the money you can go for a 2+ for a bit more streetable ride. Are you going to replace the flywheel?

I have a Spec 3 but the friction disk has been replaced by the Borg & Beck # 3095716 by the previous owner because it was too agressive and the flywheel is a Fidanza # 198581 12.5 LBS .

According to my search the replacement Fidenza flywheel insert should be #221101.

The pilot bearing has been destroyed so I think I'll go with a solid Bushing and I just need to find a replacement friction disk.
Any suggestion for the disk ?

So the shopping list for refreshing the T56 setup is :

-381039 Centerforce clutch disc.
-221101 Fidanza replacement flywheel insert.
-BA381 Ram needle pilot bearing. ( mixte feeling about this or a bushing ).
-10085246 GM ( ACDelco CT1080 ) expensive release bearing.

I should be ordering it tomorrow.

Nice build up. From what I have read is the solid bushing is better because its stronger. I know someone will raise the point there's more friction which might be true but you don't have those roller bearings to worry about.

I went with a bearing finally.
Waiting for parts right now.
I may be able to put the motor back in the car before Christmas.
We'll see.

Very cool man how much was that fidanza flywheel insert? Where you grabbing all your parts from... summit? Sucks we having nothing on this side of the border thats half decently priced.

"Docteur du Pare-Brise" has access to "Keystone" and they carry many different product brand so the Fidanza insert was like $69.00 CDN and the Centerforce friction disc $240...
I was going to get them from Summit but when I saw the prices , the difference wasn't too bad so I bought it locally.
