Safely?

Well if you don't detonate you will be able to make fair power but detonation is a reality.

The MPT 70 is a great turbo I have one on an LT1 rearmount it comes in ~2500. The T70 comes in many turbine from a .68 T4 to .96 T4 and many different T3's.

The T70 makes amazing power and there are many threads on this site showing what can be achieved. Bottom line is don't boost unless you can afford a forged rotating assembly. The payback just isnt there for low boost/power. On a stock piston engine you COULD MAYBE get 5psi or roughly 30% increase that is a small bump that can be matched or beat without boost.

Good luck

Are you talking hp at the Motor, or at the wheels?

Putting a turbo (or a supercharger for that matter) won't reall be cost effective in the bang for your buck area on a stock motor. These motors have such a high compression from the factory that a lot of power made by boost isn't really feasable on a stock motor. A lower compression, forged internal motor is another story, however, but on a stock motor, heads, cam, intake, tuned, with full bolt ons will get you well past the 400hp mark (at the wheels, NOT the crank.)

If you're talking crank HP, you could see over 500hp easy with heads/cam/intake, or like you said a few bolt ons with nitrous

On a stock engine, nitrous can be much faster.

I wouldn't consider going turbo without forging and lowering the compression of an LT1.
