Default When using and gapping hellfire rings for a 250 shot, do you lose NA horsepower due..

When gapping hellfire rings for a 250 shot, do you lose some NA horsepower from the gapping. Since I'm assuming this will be a fairly big ring gap since it is a decent shot of nitrous, it seems as if I would be losing some compression when running NA with this ring gap. Sorry if I am extremely wrong on this topic. If I am right what kind of power do you think I am losing. Are we talking 1 or 2 horsepower?

Also I heard you lose some horsepower with hellfire rings compared to moly rings. Is this true? If so are we also just talking 1 to 2 horsepower? Thanks for any help on my curiousity.

lol, seriously the builder that did my first engine I just gave him the engine and parts and told him to gap the moly rings for a 150 shot. Some stuff like this i never ask my engine builder about. I heard of stuff like blow by with big ring gaps and i know my buddy is not going to want to race me with my nitrous. So I was just curious how much it affected NA. Sorry for the question. haha.

Actually I was the one that chose my
pistons
crank
h-beam rods
my 306 cam
my le1 heads
my 10308 valve springs
and everything else

I managed to make 403rwhp through a m6 and 9"rear end. And this is just a LE1 setup with a shelf cam. There is LE2 setups that need the 10 bolt rear end to do this. Maybe the reason I was able to accomplish this is because I researched my butt off.

The only thing I am doing different is changing my rings, going 4 splayed mains, and using studs for my heads with cometic gaskets.

If you don't have an answer just shutup!

Make sure he lines the rings gaps all up to help releive some of that nitrous pressure.

To help solve that problem on my new build my machinest/builder put total seal second rings in mine along with the hellfire top rings. The TS second rings are gappless.

You are gonna loose more track time/power from

The lower compression that you have to run for the spray.

The cam you have to run for the spray

The converter you have to run for the spray

The gear you have to run for the spray

Compared to those items, the ring gap is splitting hairs.

Unless you are gonna spray a 250 shot on every pass I would look into another ring package besides a Hellfire.

gapless second rings suck, pressure builds up between the rings and unseats them, gapless rings should only be used on the top.

it doesn't matter where you set up the rings, they rotate when the motor runs.

I thought nitrous loves higher compression?

Only on a pure race fuel setup. Pumpgas anywhere in the mix, no.

i think it's safe to assume a 250 shot would never be sprayed on pump gas. then again this is the lt1 section on ls1tech
