Default Anyone ever run the strip with no t tops?

Anyone or ever try to? I do not see why not, not like the T tops would really protect anything. To compare this to something I see the old shelby cobras going down the track with just the bar behind the drivers head that cant differ much from the T bar.

under NHRA rules, if you race without t-tops you're considered a convertible, which means rollbar at 13.49.

Its not a matter of protection of a roll over but in case something flies in your car an hits your eye, face, chest ect. Thats what they worry about.

Right.... so it's ok for a mass produced automobile to drive on the highway without t-tops, but suddenly on a dragstip there's an extreme danger of flying objects entering the passenger compartment? You couldn't be more incorrect.

Why would you want to? You might as well tie a parachute to your car...

I'd say it's more likely for an object to fly at you/your car at the dragstrip.

Hey:

My ? is why would you want to, most tracks want a cage or ttops on or no race. Whats the point? It prob be slower. You can drive down the road all day with them off, is it that much of a hassle to put them on at the track?

I agree, why would one want to?

The t-tops absolutely provide some measure of protection from debris as well as collision. This should be a prime concern for anyone running at the strip.

I can promise it will slow your car down too and if you disagree, give Adam and Jamie a call. So again whats the point other than to look like a doofus?

LOL @ "flying debris." You guys honestly think that there's more risk of getting hit by something at the track? On a 1/4th mile stretch of asphalt that is cleaned daily, versus a normal highway or road?

****'s hilarious.

I am guessing it has to do with rollover precautions. I am sure the rulebook does not take into consideration the material in which they are made.

i actually run a composite shield over my windshield when i go down the track, you can never be too safe when it comes to flying debris!

So can any of you smart people with the smart *** comment give a reason then? No all you can say is flying depris on the interstate is more dangerous well yes it is, But You can freely do just about what you want on the interstate, A track is privately owned an can have the rules they want. The reason (our) tracks (here) do it is cause of depris hitting you. Says you need to be enclosed practically. same reason you cant run with your window down. DUh

you race to go fast, no t tops = more drag = slower time so if you want to go slower go for it
