When it tells you to exit all programs... exit all programs. I decided to dial in the VE tables for some better drivability and after some logging I was flashing a new tune with my datalogger still open as well as a couple internet explorer windows. After the tune was loaded and JET was returning my computer to normal operating mode I heard my fans kick on and that was the end of the road for that pcm. Whenever the key was on the fans would run and I could not communicate with the pcm with either my datalogger or the flash program. I tried everything including the restore pcm and nothing seemed to work. Luckily I keep a spare so I installed that pcm loaded the tune and all is well except for my fried pcm/doorstop, looks like I am in the market for a new spare.
I learned that the hard way about 6 years ago. Since then, NOTHING can be running...no anti-virus, utilities, nothing.
Madz28 should be able to fix your fried PCM though. He fixed mine.

thanks, I was going to give him a call it is cheaper to have it repaired than buy a used one and than have it burn another license in the tuner becasue of the different vin

Also make sure your screensavers or system hibernate is disabled/not set to come on for at least 10min. As well as system popups, especially if you are using a laptop and it has wireless and happens to detect and try to connect to a network as you're reprogramming the PCM.
I came close to frying my PCM once but I pulled the PCM fuse for 30 seconds and the car fired right up. Luckily it gave me the security error before erasing the old tune... talk about pants crapping moments. I even had everything closed, etc..., so it can happen at any time it seems.
I also take the fan fuse out before I load a new tune also. One less thing to worry about messing something up.
