Okay before ppl bash on me I read and searched every thread that could have applied to my situation. Okay so I'm wondering what method is better stroking my motor to a 383 for 3grand everything included, or a complete LS1 pullout for 4390 including m6.
Problem with me having an lt1 is no one in Cali tunes them. At least in my area LA. And for just 1grand more I can have a motor everyone tunes here. And not only that I love root blowers something the lt1 does not have. I want to know if the swap is difficult? What else would I need, I'm only getting all the accessories that are bolted onto the engine including the wiring harness and pcm. Along w trans.

POWERTRAIN DYNAMICS in huntington beach, harv's dynotune in whittier will tune the LT1
or you could always do the EFI connections 24x LS1 PCM and tune it with any ls1 software which is what im doing.

Surely someone out there knows how to tune an LT1. That makes no sense at all. Someone on here has to know a dyno shop out there that can do it. I do an awfull lot of west coast LT1 cars, but surely you can find a shop to do it there. I'll bet someone here has an answer.
That said, the LS series is a superior engine, just more costly to build. I own both, I like both, the LS engine is more advanced and if all else is equal is also faster.

Ill check that place in Huntington Beach out. I'm excited. I heard the efi 24x is costly. I do love the thought of an ls in my z28. Would I need more parts for the swap ? I'm going to be helped by my best friend uncle he said it should be easy since they are both sbc. But I need your guys opinion.

you need the k-member, steering gear, and the wiring is going to be the major pain in the *** but other than that it's pretty straight forward to swap. I wouldkeep the LT1 because you can make great power with it. with your LS swap you will have a STOCK LS engine that is going to cost more to build, throw 4k at the LT1 and you will have one FAST street car in cali. What city are you in? im in Fontana.

Dude I'm always in Fontana my cousin lives off the 210 cherry exit.carpool lane. And with the ls I'm not going to drop it in. I'm going to leave it in my garage buy all the bolt ons then swap
Its just like I said driving far for a tune isn't fun bro. We gotta meet up man.

I couldn't believe it either, Ed. There are just slim pickin's here for the LT1. For the LS1, there are quite a few, but only a couple I would let touch my car.

don't worry bro, I hear that crap all the time from Ls1 owners. I'm also from So-cal and you are right about the limited tuners we have. I would check out that place in HBC, they did my buddies convert lt1

it amazes me the lengths people will go to avoid something they think they can't do, but obviously have never tried. Spending 2k on the efi connections stuff
spending xxxx dollars on an ls1 conversion ![Icon Confused](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/icon_confused.gif)

If you're OBDI buy the software, rent a dyno and I'll work on your tune with you. When I was putting my old motor together last year, I knew I was gonna be on my own. So I started reading books, started playing with the software, started looking at tunes for different cars, etc and it turned out to be pretty easy even though some would've considered that combo radical for a street car. I live in Upland not too far off the 210...

I would suspect the ability of any "tuner" that could not handle something that simple. I have read posts where guys wanted HPTuners to waste their time on LT1 tuning software when an excellent application is already put there so inexpensive. Anybody that can't pick up TunerCat and tune an LT1 is not a real tuner. They are just an incompetent wannabe.

its not worth the cost of the software, or their time "learning" it for one car. I've known ryne for a long time and he knows what he's doing. We worked on my car together on his dyno, with my laptop, my software, my cable, etc. He gave me a great rate on the dyno time, he was there to answer questions or give suggestions, and it worked out fine. Is there a learning curve? Yes. Would I pay 2k bucks to avoid having to learn something useful? Hell no.
