pistons/compression
Building a 357 currently, have a few ?'s
Heres the build basic's
2 bolt main
Stock crank
Stock rods, ARP bolts
Forged pistons, 40 over
ARP head bolts
Melling 10554 Oil pump
LE 226/234 stick
Light ported heads/intake (322rwhp w/all boltons, no EWP/Lid, mac headers)
52mmtb/30 lb inj/3.73's/lid
Boltons
I want to find a cheaper forged piston since I will be running stock rods, 2 bolt, stock crank. I dont really want to have a weak link in the bottom end and spoke with the machine shop owner for a bit. He thinks I should use Mahle, but I wanted to see what you guys thought about speedpro, SRP, etc.
The car will see a 150 hit the following year. I may get N20 rings for whatever cheaper piston I get... Just a thought tho, looking for some input?
Next the car will be a DD April to Sept but I want to run all the compression I can. How much do you think I can get away with on DCR/SCR??
I dont want to go above 12.1 tho. It will only get pump gas, 93 in chicago tho so its not too bad.
Any help would be appreciated.

Forged Mahle pistons would be a good choice. Maybe go with a forged Compstar rod as well. If it's all apart, you might as well find the coin to eliminate any potential weak links.

**** I would be happy with scat I beams. My budget is about 1200 more than i planned and I just found out the clutch I have isnt going to last so thats another 450.

No way. The stock 2-bolts are plenty strong. The only reason I went with a 4-bolt block is because I got a good deal on it - otherwise I would have stuck with the 2-bolt. You're fine with the 2-bolt, especially at your power level. Don't sweat it.

SCR has nothing to do with streetability. It's just a static figure, a build number. DCR is what is MUCH more important.
You said you want to run as much compression as possible, right? I'm running at closer to 13.0 and I have no problems (knock, etc.).
