Default Cant pick, spec 3/4 or ram pwr HD??

I need to pull the trigger on something real soon as the motor will be back from the machine shop next friday.

I think ill be around 370rw, + a 125 shot. so it will have to stand up to 500hp. hopefully a 8.8 will find its way under my car this winter.

Concerned about driveability, will be driving the car as a DD 6 months a year(some chicago traffic too), what do you guys think is the best?

I have a spec 4 but if you're worried about driveability you might want to get the 3 or 3+

I had the ram hd and the competition clutch I have now has held up way better. If I was going to spend big dollars on a clutch I would go with the spec 3+over the ram.

I think its between the spec 2+ and the powergrip HD

stage 1 - 480 ft lbs tq capacity
stage 2 - 560 ft lbs tq capacity
stage 2+ - 620 ft lbs tq capacity
stage 3 - 690 ft lbs tq capacity
stage 3+ - 800 ft lbs tq capacity
stage 4 - 680 ft lbs tq capacity
stage 5 - 1050 ft lbs tq capacity

The 2+ is rated almost the same as the 3 & 4. I want driveability too which it is susposed to be much better with it

My spec stage 2 is a really good clutch. it holds well and has good drivability. the only thing ill nag about it is with the chatter i get. but i did resurface my flywheel twice. and god knows how many times its been cut. The next time i go with a clutch ill most likely go with the ram powergrip HD with a new flywheel. ive only heard great things about that clutch.

You will not want a Spec 4 if you have a 10-bolt.

ram powergrip HD is an outstanding clutch. i ran one for 25k DAILY DRIVEN miles with no issues, still had a lot of material left when i pulled it and i sold it to another guy. speed_demon24 has one and i think he likes his as well.

Why is the stage 4 rated for 10 ft lbs less tq than the stage 3? that makes no sense.

Still daily driving my powergrip HD. It drives close to stick with no chatter. It drives better than my old mcleod single disk FWIW.

I have wondered this too. I will guess that the 3+ is a much newer design with newer materials. I have a 3+ and it was really good when newer but after maybe 8K miles, it has greatly softened up. The disk has removed lots of material from my flywheel and pressure plate too. Right now, I can barely bark second gear. It used to get 3rd everytime, not no more.

I am holding out for a Monster clutch. This winter I am yanking the tranny to do a rebuild so I will be gettin a new clutch.

Stage 3+ is an excellent clutch. Extremely pricey though. I have the Ram HD now per SpeedDemon's suggestion. Havent' ran it for any amount of time, but so far it feels great.

I had the Ram powergrip HD in my car. it lasted me about 20,000 miles doing mostly daily driving in 50/50 stop and go and highway traffic, but with plenty of spirited driving as well. the only thing i didn't like about it was that it would chatter pretty badly if you didn't take off just right, however when replacing it i found the flywheel was in pretty bad shape so that may have been what was causing the chatter and not the clutch. It did hold very well though and my car should be somewhere between 350 and 400 to the rear wheels. When i replaced it i switched to a Spec 3+ with a spec billet steel flywheel. this is by far the best clutch i have ever driven. once broken in there is no chatter, and this thing feels like it will hold anything. the only downside i could come up with was that it did cost my about $900.00 shipped with the flywheel, but in my eyes its money well spent if it drives as good as it does and ends up lasting a good amount of time. the cheapest place i found to get it with the flywheel was Maryland Speed

I really think I am going to get the spec 2+. Its rated at over 600lb TQ and should have good driveability.

Is anyone running the 2+ currently??
