Default are bassani true duals worth the money

im currently running magnaflow and im just curious to see how many people have purchased the bassani true duals and is there an increase in the power also can i keep my old school edelbrock headers is the sound better and more throaty. also if i change my hood to a ram air with a single extractor (which i cant seem to find) with a ws6 air box not ss can i increase the power a decent amount i would think the ws6 ram air is more efficient then the ss its straight in to the manifold.

No the duals are not worth it. Get some better ones fabbed up or get a dumped kit (tsp or lpp). I don't think you can run longtubes with them anyway.

Ram air hoods wont give you any power increase.

A: Hell no.

Q: Will they fit my headers
A: No

Q: Which hood would give a better power increase
A: You won't get a power increase either way...

I saw very minor gains over my Borla catback. The best thing going for the duals is they kill all of the funky rasp you get with the ORY around 2K RPM. The exhaust get much smoother everywhere and just sounds awesome. Pics in sig.

JUST realized were talking lt1's here... so I don't know much about the lt1 Bassani duals.

My statement about ram air hoods is still true though.

If you have someone who can weld, here is what I did and it will save you some serious coin. Bear in mind, I don't know what size your collectors are so I am giving you my dimensions (Had Pacesetter LTs and 3" collector).

From Jegs:

1. 3" Header collector flange set 555-30821 ($6.99)
2. 3" to 2.5" ID Reducer set 555-30034 ($19.99)
3. 2.5" Universal X-pipe kit 555-30661 ($84.99)
4. Qty. 2 Bullet mufflers of your choice (I did Moroso Spiral Flows) 710-94050 ($51.99 ea.)
5. 2.5" Exhaust turndowns (Cut off most of the tubing and butt welded them) 555-30641 ($34.99)
6. VHT Engine Block Paint (Gloss Black) 322-SP124 ($7.99)

From Napa:
1. Qty. 2 2.5" ID - OD Exhaust Adapters 3" - 4" EXH 41963 (I think that is the number) ($4.39 ea.).

So for about $270 + any shipping and handling along with maybe some brewskis for the welder , you can have a pretty decent X-pipe setup.

actually (for an LT1) getting the ram air intake setup will give you some gains since you get rid of the 2 90* bends that LT1s generally have with their intake setups

I can vouch for this and give proof. I went from a normal LT1 cold air to making an LS1 ws6 ram air base and lid fit under and work with my ram air hood, and it made a big difference, 2+ tenths and 3 mph on street tires, and managed a 13.1 on a 2.03 60' on nitto dr's.

thanks for the help guys ive got alot of info im not sure which way to go at this point but ill figure it all out i find it kinda hard to believe theres zero gain on a lt for a ram air hood my slp intake hides in the corner sucking hot dry **** *** air from the road.

big difference dude thanks i knew it would make a difference if he changed his ss hood and put his intake in the fenderwell on his ls1 im sure it would kill it a little

in all fairness..how far apart were the passes made comparing the two? better air will yield better results no matter the intake.

Agreed, sure shorter and straighter is better but thats a big increase.
Yes yes, we all know the Lid setup is dyno proven, blah blah blah, he's got a LT1 Camaro though, thats a lot of cutting and fabbing, which doesn't sound like the OP can do (no offense).

I also ran a similar true dual X-pipe ($300 for parts) got em welded up to my PaceSetter long tubes with no issues. setup as stated above, the 2.5" kit from Summit, Dynomax bullet mufflers and catted X-pipe, sounded great but ground clearance wasn't the best so I switched back. I really didn't notice much over ORY and SLP dua/dual catback.

if you find them used they are well worth the money. another option to find used are the TSP duals. you will need to modify the piping from the headers to the x, but other than that its a direct fit. or gather the parts off of summit racing as stated

The subject of ram air's gains has been beaten to death. You can try a search but this is what you'll find is the general consensus:

-More "straight shot" (ram air) design becomes more effecient at high speeds, but more times than not will show little/no gains on a dyno (no moving air-just sucking it in)

-Ws6 Ram Air Box > Aftermarket CAI > SS Ram Air Box > Stock Air Box


As far as the bassani pipes go, if all your looking for a is a power gain, then no, they are not worth it whatsoever. A true dual/x-pipe setup can be fabbed up for a couple hundred dollars that will give you the same if not better power increase over bassani.
