Default New Best at the 1/8th mile track!!!!

Finally we got a little break in the weather! It was a little cooler at 78 but the humidity was down a lot from what it has been the past month. Still not a perfect pass, I felt the tires turn over just a teensy bit on the launch but the rest of the run was solid. This is from Dunn Tire Raceway in Lancaster, NY, which is typically a tenth slower than other tracks due to a few imperfections (it's slightly uphill in some spots, lol).

7.19 at 94.37

As soon as I hit some solid 7.05's I will head to Empire Dragway about 75 miles away and get my 10, still on the stock shortblock!

It was an '05-'09 Mustang GT believe it or not, lol. He was new to the track and he tripped the beam by accident and then sat there for a second. I was lined up with him 3 times, he did manage to run a 9.80 later on, which is like a high 14.

Nice times, but I don't see you gaining .2 in the 1/8th by shortening your 60' by .05, especially if the rest of the run was "solid" and you had good weather.

I'd like to see you prove me wrong though. Not to be a negative Nancy - just stirring the pot a bit.

I totally agree with you on that point. Even with a perfect launch that particular day, my car would have only picked up a few hundredths. Maybe a 7.16 or so. I'm not done with it yet though. Still have a few little things to do. Still have some weight to shave, but it's getting expensive now, lol. A cylinder head swap ought to get me somewhere though. We are blessed in the wny area to get some negative DA in the fall, which makes the cars run insane too!

It's lower than that, lol. More like 9.2/9.4-1, somewhere in there. 62cc chambers, and the heads flow 255ish, nothing magical there. My car runs numbers due to paying attention to everything else and spending time tweaking all sorts of stuff. I cut a better 60 ft on my last run (1.5434) but screwed up to 2-3 shift (arghhhhhh stock shifter!) about 300rpm too soon, and ran a 7.20.

I have my new transmission sitting here ready to go as soon as my Madman dipstick comes in. The new tranny is another th350 but with reverse valve body, a tranny brake, and a lower 1st gear ratio (2.75). I have a new converter too, an 8" 5000rpm that my builder told me should smoke the one in my car now. The one I run now is an ArtCarr 10" that stalls around 5200.

10" 5200 stall with the power you're making? you'll pick up big going to an 8". I love mine so far on the street, no track for a few weeks though.

My local tranny guy said that the only way to foot brake a 10" converter to over 5000 rpm is to have the converter fins on a negative angle or something like that. He said it makes them very inefficient on the top end when they do that. He said it works in certain applications on smaller motors where the car isn't making much power but for anything else it's the wrong way to do it. I'm not a converter guy so mainly what he says goes right over my head, lol.

Oh BTW I can cut good lights when I need to. I won the whole damn race last time at the track.

From August 3rd:

So THERE! lol
