Default Seafoaming a 17 year old car, good idea?

My car's been abused the hell out of before me. I'm trying to bring the old beast's youth back. I was gonna get a tune but I was recommended to do a seafoam first.

Questions:
1. Do I really need to do a seafoam for pcm tune? Does it make a difference? I hear some people say it's BS.
2. Would it be bad for a car this old to suddenly have all of its build up broken off? I don't want anything stuck in there and damage my engine.
3. What'd be the safest/best way to do it? Pour it into intake, gas tank or my oil?
4. Do I need to change the oil afterwards if I put it into gas tank or intake?

Any tips or links would be appreciated.

This has been discussed many many times on how to do it.

But, I think what your sources are saying about the seafoam before a tune is to restore any lost power and to have the car running its best, for the most accurate tune.

I don't think it would hurt it at all, you're really just cleaning out carbon build up.

Most people suggest 1 in the tank, then 1 into the intake. I don't do my oil

Yes, change your oil after.

nice car btw.

prepare for lots of smoke from exhaust. LOTS. May not be that bad, but prepare anyhow.

I seafoamed my dads 93 1500 pickup and it smoked for almost 3 days worth of driving...it soaked the tailpipe with carbon....change the oil and take it easy on RPMs

IMO the only reason to put seafoam into the cylinders is if there is a carbon knock. If the a valve cover is popped and the engine is gunked up, no amount of Seafoam will clean it to any acceptable level. Don't see any reason to put it in the tank either.

Use MCCC instead, you get it at a chrysler dealer for like $6.

Don't put it in the oil. I've heard way to many bad stories about that. Works great for some people... but not everyone.

But it's fine in the intake (brake booster cable) or gas tank. Clean the TB while you're at it.

So it is good to use on our cars? I thought most people recommended you don't use seafoam.

ive used seafoam in several different vehicles over the last 20yrs... i did my 94 camaro when i first bought it last year, definetly made it run smoother.. i used regular oil and changed it several times after the seafoam treatment, then went to full synthetic..

Thanks jay7199, thanks everyone for their input...I'm still a lil confused though.

Do I put in the gas tank AND intake or just one of em?
Is seafoam better or MCCC?
And how do I clean my throttle body with this stuff? Do I gotta open it up?

I also heard I gotta clean my O2 sensor. I never done that before so I'd appreciate it if anyone's got anything on that.

when you do a full seafoam treatment you put it in the fuel tank, intake and also the crankcase..

go to you tube and do a search their are many videos on it.. probably would start at seafoams website.

Did this happen to you? Are you sure it was because of the seafoam?

I also called a Chrysler dealer and asked for the MCCC, they said the spray stuff was banned but they have a liquid version of it for $26....why do all good things have to be banned.

Most likely it was just the seafoam burning off not any actual carbon deposits. Mine did the same thing. Just a tiny little bit of smoke.

Also it did not wreck any of my plugs or sensors or anything. In fact I did it SEVERAL times, I used it to see where smoke was coming out besides just the tailpipe (I was tracking down some exhaust leaks).
