Will I gain anything by buying a 58mm TB?
#6
Well unless you have a good cai, catback to let the air out and headers it might help. in which this case you do. Ive heard a copule of people that they put that size of tb and felt no difference? idk i would do more research before buying it lol. theyre expensive especially for the BBK ones.

He does have a 6 speed in it so driving around throttle response will be better with the 58MM. I thought my 52MM TB on my 6speed car with boltson's woke it up when tipping into the throttle coming out of turns, was a fun mod and even if it didnt gain peak horsepower.

It might gain throttle response because it has a larger opening at small throttle positions than stock. But you could save the $200 and just push the pedal harder to get the same effect.

The Edelbrock heads/cam/intake are such garbage we don't need to talk about what they did other than to keep saying they are garbage so newbs don't buy them.
A PROPER heads and cam setup will make more power at the wheels than their junk does at the flywheel.
To run a 58mm TB you have to open up the intake, I wouldn't bother with that till doing heads and cam.
There are dyno tests that suggest some gain on an otherwise stock engine but there are better ways to spend money on an otherwise stock engine.

For kicks & giggles... what if one had:
1. Heads (195cc, 205cc, etc)
2. Cam (custom grind, etc... pick your poison)
3. CAI
4. Aftermarket Exhaust (LT's, no cats, high flow mufflers)
5. Ported Intake
But.... STOCK BOTTOM END?!?!?!

Wouldn't that be a true statement if I swung the snot outta that motor? I've been hearing that stock LT1s don't like spinning higher than 6200-ish. I'm not looking for a monster motor. But a descent cruiser with a bit of power & torque to surprise the unexpected.
I've had my share of experimenting with my old C10 w/ the 5.3L bolt-on motor. Didn't swing that higher the 6500, but didn't have ported heads (cam only). This is the first LT1-powered vehicle I own. No plans on this being a high-revving motor.
