Default Getting into the powerband faster/Cam in high mileage LT1?

Ok, so what I've noticed is that my car starts to pull harder staring at 3,000 RPM-5,700(Redline) RPM... I want to know if there is a way to get into the powerband quicker.

For example, I launch the car spin through first and then shift to second and the RPM's drop to 2,000 RPM and my car takes a while to start pulling again? Is it the way im driving it or what?

I know gears will get me there quicker but 10 bolts arent strong and this is my DD. I was thinking 3.90's if i did gears. I have a 96 Formula, so i believe it comes with 3.42's, correct?

Also, a cam would make my powerband lower RPM, and run to a higher RPM, correct?

Please give me some advice.

Thanks in advance,

Kyle

I launch around 2k and shift at redline, and it drops to 2k and stops spinning, and then takes a while to pick up again. ?

slip the clutch a lil dont just dump it. control the tire spin. and a good set of sticky tires would help

What do you mean by "Slip" the clutch, run it out slowly while holding the revs at 2000? but if i shift at red line will it jump back to 2k still?

this may sound kinda out there but i think it might put it into terms for ya. have you ever played a drag racing video game were have to shift the gears your self? and if ya shift too early from 1st to 2nd it slows the car down real bad ya got to let it bounce off the rev limiter a few times. that is what u r doin to your car in real life. the speed is not high enough to make the shift. even though u are at red line

no not really lookin to trade. it would help the car alot and make life easier with some sticky tires. might look at getting some cheap stock 16" wheels or u can find used cheap 15" wheels on here all the time and put some drag radials on em for track use.

I have stock 16's, the thing is i dont wanna use slicks at the track cause of the 10 bolt and it being my DD. I just like to have a little fun on the streets.
