Default Crap tune/ Wide Band kits

OK, What wide band o2's and gage are you all using?
Who has one that data logs and can you tell me how it works?
Is it even worth getting one that can data log?
What dose it data log exactly?
I think my tune is **** on my 383 OBDII Camaro and I'm looking at options. It's fouling out plugs in about 700 to 1k miles and I think it took the O2's with it this time. I have the tps set and the thing runs fine on new plugs. The longer it idles the quicker the plugs seem to go. No black smoke under wide open throttle, it runs like a raped date on new plugs but at idle I think it is running way to rich. lots of black soot on the tail pipe and especially if it idles for any period of time then it really shows up. I changed the coil and ICM just to make sure it wasn't those and it runs better but not great until I change the plugs then it feels like it should. It starts to miss from 3000 to 5000 rpms but is clean after that to 6000. and it dose it less and less if I do more and more WOT runs. If I do 5 WOT runs then it cleans it's self up and runs ok but you can feel it's down on power a tad and like I said on new plugs (autolite 104's) it has no problems and power is fully good again. I have e-mailed the tuner for a week now but no response yet so I wont name names. yet. Let me know guys.

I have an AEM UEGO... linear output goes right into my DFI box for datalogging. The gauge and DFI readings seem to be about .1-.2 off at times, might just be the gauge updating faster than the calmap screen. It was pretty much dead on with the dyno wideband. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, and I think I got it on sale for about 149 bucks as well.

do you do your own tuning wicked? I have been thinking about it since Jegs has the JET Performance Dynamic Spectrum Tuner on sale for 350 bucks right now and it will cover the camaro and my 98 tahoe and the 6.0 I plan on putting in the tahoe later on. It will do 4 cars on the software, and I still have not heard back from the tuner. What do you use if you do?

I would have your tuner check it since you already paid for it.
If your planning on doing allot of mods in the future then get HP Tuners or EFI Live.

The Jet Spectrum is the old Tuner Cat system purchsed by Jet Chips, honestly it is nowhere near as good as HPtuners or EFILIVE.

Yea I do my own tuning. I've moved on from the stock PCM stuff, now I'm running DFI which is a breeze to set up and tune. If I were you I'd throw an OBDI PCM in it so you can tune/datalog for free. I have some of the "goodies" you'd need to do so... I always used Tunercat btw

I have a 95 PCM laying around but I have no idea if it's OBD I or II. What all do I need for the conversion? I have the harness as well. I'll have to search tonight to see if I find a way to tell if it's I or II.

Does JET DST come with a datalogger?? I've never gotten an answer for this.
And if so, does it read a wideband?

Not a logger but a viewer from what I have read. Being real time only. Then again their manual reads like tring to assemble the space shuttle with out know what the peices look like and no labels on the parts. I downloaded the demo version and I still cant tell if it will data log but it will read real time values. I think.

I have looked around and can not find anything on how to tell if a PCM is OBD I or II. Anyone know? I have the PCM sitting here. The harness and PCM I have laying around where from a junk yard motor. I have no idea if the harness or PCM where from the same car. The PCM has a tag with numbers on it but I can't find anything telling me how to decode what they mean. anyone know how to tell?

OK so SHbox confirmed that the spare PCM I have is an OBD I PCM. So what do I do to convert? My car is a 97 with 97 harness and PCM right now. I was reading up on it and it said that you just swap it in and tune it? Some said you need to change the knock sensor but others said that can be done in the tune?

You need an obd I knock sensor and the PCM. Just bolt it all in

Finally got an E-mail back for the tuner. I don't know what to say so Here take a look. Also you will see who it because of whats in the message. Seems it wont matter much anyway.

Hi Jaycen,

The issue you are running into seems like a problem with the PCM seeing too much air in the exhaust. We can’t control the fuel mixture at idle, or part throttle, so if it’s loading up (fouling out plugs), it is because the PCM thinks there’s too much air (exhaust leaks, bad O2 sensor, other internal engine trouble, etc might be the cause of that).

We no longer offer programming services for LT1 equipped vehicles due to reliability problems with the PCM and the increasing challenge in finding core PCMs.
