Default rear gear for my nitrous pass?

currently as the car sits i have a 4.86 rear gear, powerglide, and heads cam lt1 that wont spin over 6500 rpm on a 29" tire.... i cant run about 1100 foot down the track NA before it hits the 6500 mark and then just flat lines(was fine with that because preffered 1/8th mile racin anyways). This past weekend i ran NA first pass with a 1.63 60ft 7.42 90mph and 11.74 at 109.(topped out by 1100ft) Next pass i sprayed it and got a 1.43 60ft 6.50 103mph and 10.70 at 108mph. so basically i was topped out by just after 1/8th mile.... im pullin out my 4.86 tomorow... but my question is will my 4.11 gear end up being enough to run it out the back or do i need 3.90? 3.73?

also anybody know what the stock bottom end nitrous record is?

I think the 4.11 will still be too low. Go with the 3.73

And that's the only difference.

I'm not taking away from what he's done at all. It's awesome, but comparing a motor/car set up to a different car is not intelligent... B-body guys might as well use F-body cars as examples of their cars in that case.

What are you talking about broski? The 3rd gen weighs more which means the record was set by a heavier car. Therefore he can go faster in a 4th gen if he makes the car lighter. ALL the parts can be exactly the same, chassis and all. THe only difference is the monocoque structure of the body. He wants to know what was the record, not if he had the same parts or what he needed to do so!

3100 pound raceweight is hardly a "heavier car" than a 4th gen.

Most third gen camaros were 3200lbs curb weight... So third gen's being heaver, I suppose if all 4th gens were 1LEs...

GTAs were 3400.

Drag coefficient is .31 vs .34 - 3rd/4th

I was unaware that he had a molested car. NOne the less is his car wt with him in it or not? Either way the 3rd gens are heavier as compared to stock 4th gens. When we molest them they are light as you know by now. But then again he only asked whats the stock shortblock record

All I was saying is the car isn't a 4th gen so be careful how you compare that to a 4th gen. They ARE different.

And the third gens are lighter than the 4th gens. I just posted the curb weights. (Roughly 200#)

There is far more in common between a 3rd gen and a 4th gen then there is with ANY f-body and a b-body. Be careful how you compare them.

I think 3.90's would be alittle safer then 4.10's. You would have more room if you wanted to run alittle more spray

to the OP, you're looking at a 3.89 gear. Powerglide is completely wrong for that setup IMO. At your power level, only way to make a glide work if you don't have a 2800 pound car, is to turn it hard with a 5000+ converter.

Who cares, he got it to trap 139 with a stock bottom, 3100 isn't going all out.

Well i was thinkin the record was around 9.80 like u said tony but damn... i wont ever be able to touch the 9.4..... once again im close to beating and record then someone pulls 3-4tenths out there *** somehow! first the bolt on record tom cowle destroyed with an 11.48 and now vtec with 9.44.... damn my luck.... lol owell

but anyways i decided to go with the 4.10 gear and made a huge difference!!

NA: 60ft-1.68 1/8-7.34@94.69 1/4-11.51@117.82
N2O: 60ft- 1.42 1/8-6.37@107.86 1/4-10.12@126.67

Sad to say i should have went with the 3.89 and i would have seen 9's but owell
It works great now for 1/4mile racing of the bottle atleast! If the record was still 9.8 or whatever i would change the gear again and spray a little more and i think i could get a high 9.7 out of it pretty easy but owell.... cant complain for runnin 10.12 in a lightly ported set of heads and off shelf cam lt1!!! right heads and cam with my old th350 and circle d converter and id be knockin at your door vtec
