Default 24x setup isn't running

Alright so the car cranks and does fire off, but then dies. I can kinda keep it going if I mess with the throttle.

So what could be off?

Have you tried calling them (or PMing S10Wildside)? From what I understand their tech support is pretty good.

I've emailed them. Didn't try calling as it says phone Mon-Fri.

It runs now steady for a few seconds, then tries dying, then will run steady again.

Yeah I guess we are kinda discussing the problem in his thread.

I have 39 PSI at idle and then it spikes to 42 when it tries to die. Since I started this thread it will run, it runs stable for a second or two, then it tries to die, then it comes back, it does this continually.

Until I shut it down. Texted my friend that has my video camera, guess it is on the way. I'll get some film of it.

Video. Excuse me swearing at the dog and then laughing about it at the end once I realized the camera was still recording.

I'll try to get a video tomorrow during the day, I just got the camera back so I figured I'd throw this up.

Seem like a tps or idle air problem...check all your vacuum lines too...DOC did the tune for you right?

Yep Doc did the base tune. He suggested I reset the TPS? I do have a question on the vacuum lines. I know the stock harness I disconnected one off of this little canister thing but the fitting in the new harness didn't really fit? I'll get some pictures of that in the morning.

Daylight video.
So I tried the TPS reset as Doc recommended, no change.

Have you scanned the pcm yet? Is it Mikes harness or your own? Are you running a MAF or speed density tune, have you scanned the PCM for fault codes? On my 93, the PCM will set SES fault codes with out illuminating the light on the cluster. I noticed you said mail order tune, but you really need some thing like HPtuners or similar to scan the PCM. Mike has bad *** customer service and helped us out with my swap, but you need to be able to give him data so he can help you. My car wouldn't run in speed density till it had the enhanced OS from HPtuners.

Corey try adjusting your idle up to 900 and see if it still does this....

I have a lot of confidence in doc....What all is done to your motor?

If it is anything close to mine I would be willing to bet he gave you the same tune he gave me....

It has a hotcam, stock heads that were milled and 36# seimens/deka injectors. I had included a sheet when I mailed the PCM with all the modifications and other info like tire size, rear gear, longtubes, etc...

So is there some way to physically raise the idle then?

I did try to reset the TPS, I followed Doc's instructions, but I may not have left the battery unhooked long enough. He told me to put the key to run, unplug the TPS, and then unhook the battery. But maybe I needed to unhook the battery longer.

There is a set screw on the side of the throttle body for minimum throttle blade opening. You can physically raise the idle by adjusting this set screw.

Check out post #232 at https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...t-page-12.html related to your fuel injector flow rate and the calibration.

You are running a rather large injector (assuming they are 36# at 42psi) for your engine combo. Oversized injectors can cause surging at idle. But you should be able to have your PCM tuned with those injectors.

As info...my LT4 hotcam SBC has Vortec heads, Ram Jet 350 intake 1.6 rockers, and plenty of fuel with 24# injectors.

They are the same injectors I was running on the LT1 PCM though, been driving fine with that combination for almost 2 years now. I am going to email Doc again, I wonder if they keep logs of the tunes they did? Then I can see if it were tuned for LT1 pressures or LS1 pressures.

I'll try to raise the idle then next.

BizZzatch350, it is a MAF tune, harness by Mike. Agreed he definitely has great customer service! I had the mail order tune done by EFI Alchemy, as they have done several 24x setups. The plan was to get it running and then head up there for a dynotune. Not sure what Doc uses to tune, whether it is hp tuners or efi live. Trying to find someone local with either so I can see what is going on, no luck yet though!
