Default cc306 install need help

Im doin a cc306 install this winter and I just want to make sure I got all the right stuff. Motor was recently rebuilt and has around 3,000 on it with arp rod bolts, new steel chevy rods, and was balanced but other than thats it was pretty much a stock rebuild.

Patriot spring kit
611-16 comp locks, got them for christmas..(or do I need the .050 locks??)
ls7 lifters
Pormags 7/16th 1.6
ARP 7/16th studs
Guide plates
Hardened pushrods
EWP
Gasket kit from thunder racing

Lmk what you think, thanks for the help!

I would do a timing chain while you are in there. They are relatively cheap and you are already doing all the labor.

^^I agree with this. You will also need bigger injectors such as 36# and a tune. You will get alot of people telling you there are far better cams out there than the 306, and there are. Dont let them sway you just because they dont like the 306. I have it and i love it. It may be old tech but it is a proven cam.

You can't make the assumption right off the bat that you'll need injectors. I ran a larger cam than the 306 and peaked my stock injectors around 90%. While higher than the recommended 85%, it's still well within range for the stockers.

Thanks guys I will definately keep the injectors in mind. I will prolly have them done after I get it dynod. As far as the timing chain it only has 28,000 miles on it and we reused it when my engine was rebuilt 3,000 miles ago, it wasnt stretched at all. Should I still do it just incase?????? And ya im stuck on the cc306 despite what everyone says I really want to proove this cam can get it done.

Also anyone with a cc306 can I use the 611-16 or do I need the .050 locks I heard this cam could go into coil bind???

Thanks for the help

Yep you can use your low mile timing chain. I used the locks supplied with my Patriot springs. I am not sure about the ones you listed.

Awesome thank you so much guys. I will just use the locks in the patriot kit then. I just got these 611-16's for christmas and wasnt sure if they were the same as the ones in the patriot kit?? but I think they are...O well I can just sell them to a buddy or somethin.

That cam has **** for lift so its not going to "go into coil bind".

Valve springs should usually be set to around .050 to coil bind regatdles..

Dont use loc tite on the studs... use permatex high temperature thread sealant.

Sweet thanks guys. One more question when I install them can I do it without the pushrods in, or do I need to make sure there centered.

Either way. You'll get a bit of wiggle room if you leave the studs loose, install the pushrods and rockers, then see how they align best.

I just cinched them down on the heads before installing the pushrods and the Trickflow plates lined up very well for me.
