Default What kind of Oil do you guys use?

Well want to do all the fluids on the car before the weekend.
and wondering what kind of oil yall use I have been using the conventional 10W-30 on the 153k mile motor. What You guys use in your LT1s??

20w50 Valvoline VR1 in my race motor
5w30 Valvoline High Mileage in my 175K mile pickup
5w30 mobil 1 in my Bolt On LS2 GTO...........

personally i like the valvoline stuff its always worked good for me.....

Valvoline Durablend, recommended by my shop and supposedly better for iron blocks then the thin full synthetics like M1.

Well with a thinner oil in all reality should help the motor performance wise.
But i want it to be good for the engine as well lol

Not to hi jack....but Mike what is the benefit of running that thick of oil? 20w50 VR1?


I currently run 10w-30 in my LT1 but that is just cause the motor is new I will prob swap...
Mobil 1 full synthetic in my 07 Avalanche..

Im assuming some of these guys run thicker oil because they have non stock bottom ends and form what most builders have told me when you build an LT1 you open up clearance slightly as the clearances are slightly tight from the factory for a high rpm engine.

So when you open up clearances you run a thicker oil.
