Ive been following this thread for a while now. I currently run an LT1 A4 on baby shot of spray and have been researching a lot on an LQ4 swap with just a cam and the spray in front of a built 4l60e.
This is exactly what scares me about buying a used motor.
Sorry for your loss.
I will continue to follow and whis you the best of luck!

Sorry to hear about this. That sucks to put all this work and effort into your build to just have the engine **** the bed like that. Buyer beware, I guess.

Where did you buy the lsx engine from??? Let us know the outcome of that engine when you tear it apart.
I know my luck just sucks! I SHOULD have went through it! I got it from some Parts place in Georgia...Guy swore to me he test ran it and was great....

will have the motor out tomorrow...

Maybe

or I may go the budget route and buy a used short block again and this time go through it.... With as much money as I have spent so far the Stroker motor may be a stretch....

Either hear it run so you KNOW its good or go through it...Don't take some bastards word for it.... It won't be long and I will have it back together..

This is what I was Hoping to do....But when I pulled the head off wrist pin was ripped out of the piston and did a nice tap dance down the cylinder wall...So even at 30 over it would not clean up....

SO...............

I bought a 2007 LQ4 from a member on here...It has 5k miles on it and has been disassembled for inspection and new bearings and rings and ARP rod bolts....just to be on the safe side...

Should be back together in a couple weeks!!!

Matt

hope this one works out for you Matt. I was thinking man, this sucks, few more weeks, but you're in Florida, you can drive the car year round once it's back together.

Not gonna work...It will not clean up at .040 the rod locked up after slaping around in the bore and the the motor drug it down while locked...When I pulled the head I reached in a pulled the piston out (or a big chunk of it) the top...

However I am going hellfire rings, clevite bearings on the LQ4 and already have the melling pump.... I really think I am going the best way for budget and ease....

yep I learned my lesson too... New motor will be here next week and I ordered ARP rod bolts and sealed power plasma moly rings....

Gonna wait to get the motor here and mic everything out and have the rod big ends checked before ordering bearings...

Thats the spirit!! you'll be good as new as well...so you'll get more miles from it this way...in exchange for the job.

Take it slow....it's honestly the best route. Have fun with it. And always be safe.....i've been bumping into major safety NO NO's lately because I work right before dusk and then it gets dark on me as I finish....or I schedule slots of time sometimes and start hurrying myself....even tho there is no hurry. Other than to catch up on more FRINGE!!! i want to bip olivia dunham in her lips tho....there always open....

OK so a bit of an update....

The motor will be here end of the week early next...

I decided to do a few things I wanted to do on the last motor so I made a nice order today with the following

ARP Head bolts
ARP Rod Bolts
ARP Crank bolt
Sealed Power Rings
Clevite bearings
COMP Trunion Upgrade Kit
SFI approved Flex plate
New Head Gaskets

Motor should be together in about 2 weeks...Should smell smoke in 3
