95 LT1 TA going LQ9
Ok so I finally got tired of fighting with my LT1 so I decided to do a swap...I know it isn't an LT1 anymore but I still like this section the best out of this site...lol
Here are some pics of the car..
The old motor was a LT1 355 TEA cnc stock ported heads, Comp cam, all bolt ons and TH350 w 4500 stall Moser 12 bolt with 4.10..
best pass was 11.90s shifting at 5500 instead of 6500 because of a high rpm miss...
My new motor is
LQ9 stock bottom end (70k out of an 03 Escalade)
LS3 heads (brand new)
EPS custom cam kit
FAST 102mm LSXR intake
NW 102mm Throttle body
Speed Density
42lb Injectors
Hooker 1 7/8 long tube headers
2 Flowmaster Delta Series Dumped off each collector
Meizier electric water pump
Melling HV oil pump
LS2 timing chain
Pro Sports 25% UD pulley
TH350 w/2.75 low gear
PTC 4000 stall
Moser 12 bolt 4.10 gears
UMI Aluminum solid motor mounts
Manual Steering Rack
Full Tubular Suspension
QA1 Coilovers
Spohn Drag Bar
Greg weld Skinnies up front
Weld pro stars w MT ET Streets 275/60/15 on the back
car weighs around 3000 without driver
Full Custom wiring harness screwed up by SSP Wiring and Fixed by The Merv!! Thanks bud!
I am shooting for 10s all motor and 450+ hp .....You guys think I will make it??
Here are some current pics of how the car sits currently....I am painting the engine bay and waiting on my cam to come in so I can get the motor back together and in the car
buddy of mine does amazing body work so he is shaving all the holes and added sheet metal over the holes where the battery and intake went....engine bay is going to be Gloss Black
He got a little body work done today and some primer put one...Got to do some more blocking out and get ready to shoot it!
New Tubular A Arms
The motor on the stand and some "Go Fast" parts....
Any good way to clean the water passages or just do a flush when I get it together??
Crosshatches look good... Gonna shoot the block with a fresh coat of black high temp engine paint...

nice build matt, based on all the research I've done on the ls setup, sounds like you could get there and maybe more if you do some work on those ls3's and the cam you chose. Looking at some of the other builds doesn't seem like your goals are out of reach, you may hit higher than the 450.

I just seen an engine dyno of a build similar to mine that made 570hp 503tq so I hope mine makes some decent numbers too.....

10s yes, the 450 is iffy. Cam only LS3s are making 470-500 through a TR6060 and an IRS/dual exhaust. The TH350, stall, rearend and exhaust will eat up a lot more. The EPS cams are making good numbers. You will be in the 400s, where is uncertain

I do hope to pick up a little with the EWP and the Fast Intake though...

The FAST/EWP will be good for 20 or so over a stock pump/LS6 intake combo. The only things I can think of for a bit more power is some 1.8 or 1.85 rockers and obviously the X pipe. One thing you could do to gain a couple and regain some cash is sell the NW 92 and buy an ebay 102 TB. Its the same design as the FAST 102 but costs around 200 bucks. Also an FTP 104 lid with a 100mm MAF would flow better than your FIPK

What made me think that I would be 450+ is Patrick G (I am sure you know who he is) said
"Stock LS3 will put out around 400rwhp, maybe 415 with a FAST 102.
The LQ9 only gives up 12 cubic inches, but would make around 450+rwhp with the 228/236 cam and FAST 102 intake. If you're running an LS1 computer, you won't have to buy the extra Crank Sensor/Cam Sensor/Knock sensor conversion wiring that you would with the LS3 either. No brainer IMO, go with the LQ9"
Talking about those numbers with a TH350...
Geoff from EPS Cam thinks 450-470.....
I should prob shoot low and be happy if it runs really good...

I got the long block from a local salvage yard...It came out of an Escalade with only 70k miles on it...
Got the fast intake off ebay for a good deal
Throttle body and some other misc parts on here and heads and all from pace racing...
I ordered a complete harness from SSP Wiring..... I sent them my LT1 harness so they could use the interior plugs and the fender wheel plugs..so it will be plug n play... I will also use the LT1 oil pressue sensor and water temp sensor.....
The harness will be completely new with the exception of the few LT1 parts...
(EDIT Harness had to be sent back 3 times and then still wasn't what I wanted....Sent it of too The_Merv and he went through it and fixed it!)

Good stuff! Looks like you will have one clean engine bay.
Your local bone yard have any other LQ motors? I think I'm changing directions for my Silverado build, like just dropping in a stock LS or LQ motor and making a crusier, not the 3k stalled bruiser LT1 I had planned.
Anything neat going on in the Jax area this weekend? Looks like I'm headed up that way Thurs. night til who knows when. Sat or Sun.

LQK in lake city has an LQ9 with ~90,000 miles on it for $1350 plus a $200 core...
As for this weekend I don't know yet...My son has been sick all weekend so I haven't gotten out to see if anything is going on or not...I will let you know..
