I absolutely cannot fathom why anyone who knows the difference between a water pump and a distributer would think its ok to run a cam like that on the POS stock unported heads, let alone the SPRINGS...on a 383 to boot.

Seriously, I wouldn't even run a hotcam with stock springs...

Buy my springs, retainers and seats dude! They'll work perfect for what you're trying to do, and it will be cheaper than just the 918s by themselves. Plus it's a better quality spring than those mexican 918s.

Those are the recommended springs for that cam. That's the cam I run, and those springs with steel retainers, machined locks, and I shift at 68-6900. I've got 10,000+ miles on it, and haven't touched a rocker yet. It is setup well though, I didn't just slap them on and go, lol.

LOL, guys chill out on the OP. We need to give him some pointers. I'd rather see another LT1 out on the streets than another one going for an LSx swap. He knows where to come now before he buys another part or makes another mod.

If he is genuine then I apolgize for being a butt, but surely noone is silly enoughthat knows anything about motors to think stock springs can work with that combo.
Again if you did and were following the advice of others on this, I am sorry, and find better advice.

The average garage that works on old school cars knows dick about LT1's and their peculiarities. If you ask an average garage about modding an LT1 you will get lots of bad ideas.

This thread gave me a brilliant idea! Misinformation in my signature. Make a list of everything that wouldn't make sense in a build and post it. Listing a huge solid roller cam and stock LT1 valve springs is genius!
