Put a pressure checker on there and pump it up and look for leaks, look in your oil as well.

thanks we were planning on giving that a go at the weekend however when the head gasket had gone before the pressure test never changed, we have no other symptoms apart from a squeaky noise at the front - its a 1994 formula, is it possible for the head gaskets to go this quick?

Check your trans fluid as well. Just learned that. Don't forget heater core. Also I have a this same car. I had a weird leak. It turn out to be the water lines that jump from each head in the rear. Only way your head gasket could be the cause is during install. Wrong order or didnt install it correctly.

I agree on checking the waterpump. Just changed my waterpump recently as it started doing the same as what you describe. Slight loss in coolant levels, sqeek from front end etc. Water was dripping from weep hole onto belts etc. Check your opti while your in there.

Pressure test the system to help in your diag. If your going to do it yourself do it the correct way. Autozone rents them out and you get your money back when your done.

Thanks for all the advice swapped the radiator cap with our mates 2000 z28 camaro did a round trip of 60 miles temp gauge never moved from normal place and so far nor more coolant loss we have ordered a new rad cap but squeak still remains investigating on the weekend,by the way we are in the UK so no access to autozone though that sounds a good deal.
