Stepped headers will help with reversion.
If you're running a cam with a decent amount of overlap, you should see some gains.
The increased diameter won't hurt either with the setup you have.

When you see Ed weight in on something, it's a safe bet that he knows what he is talking about.
I need to get a set of 1-7/8" for mine too.
For some reason I kept telling myself to wait until I broke the motor in first ... bah.

a motor with the right amount of overlap that is correctly placed will not have an issue with reversion, so I don't see that as a benefit. Besides, the actual head port would do far greater things to kill reversion if it were an issue. There is more power in proper equal-length primaries, collector design, diameter and length than just simply throwing on bigger headers. Just utilizing proper length primaries and collectors could net a 3-4% improvement in HP without changing the actual size of the pipes! Also a true merge collector (not sure the ebays or lpps would qualify) will allow you to get away with a smaller primary for better low-midrange and with no penalty up top.
