Eaton posi. I swapped rear ends from my 2.73's to 3.42's out of an 02 ws6 and it came with an eaton posi and I haven't had any issues with it.

If you have a clutch type posi you can get it rebuilt. I recently got a quote of $125 to have mine rebuilt if I removed the carrier and brought it to the driveline shop.

You are Correct.

This got me looking. I just bought a used 10 bolt and it appears to have a Auburn (cone) type posi...it is not rebuildable. I'm not sure if our cars also had Eaton (clutch) type posi which are rebuildabe, Randys ring and pinion sells some replacement clutch plate kits for them. And of course the Torsen is full of worms. lol.
I'll have to check back with the drivetrain shop to double check.

Cheap fix is a lincoln locker. Quality is a 9" with a Detroit.

Cheap, fast, reliable. Pick any two.

Get back to us with your revised opinion when there are worm gears sticking out of your diff covers, if you ever make any power and/or try to put it down.

I've run an eaton and auburn racer's unit... Both are quality pieces. The D-REX program from auburn is nice to have too in case you grenade the diff.

Well the truck is stock with the 8.5" Eaton Tru Trac, and the car has the 9" Detroit Tru Trac. It's making plenty of power, it doesn't have that fat of an *** to move so that kinda helps. That and it all depends on how you launch..

If any sort of drag racing is going to be done then a Torsen is the last carrier that should be used. The cases are thin and weak and have too many inspection holes. They are not designed to take any sort of shock to the driveline. For auto-x/road racing they are superior, drag racing then by all means use an Eaton or Auburn.
