guideplates?

Default guideplates?

will any small block chevy flat 5/16 guide plates work on the stock lt1 heads? im converting over no nsa.... and will i need 3/8 or 5/16?

SBC guideplates can sometimes cause misalignment on some cylinders.

My suggestions:

GM p/n 14011051 (8 needed) (good idea to check them with a file for hardness)
or Trickflow Part # 30400623-8
or adjustable guideplates

You can use either size pushrod. The bigger one is normally stronger.

5/16" pushrods are plenty.

Ill go with the trick flows- i hear the GM's wear easy and that adjustable are a pain in the butt.

GM and TrickFlow provide the exact same alignment which is still not very precise for perfromance usage IMHO. If you insist one either, I would definitely go the TrickFlow because the will be properly hardened. The GM ones are hit and miss on whether or not they are hardened.

The best way to go is the Isky adjustables but as already stated, they are a terrific PITA to set up but once set up properly, they provide the best pushrod alignment you can get. IMHO, this is the best way to go.

The problem with the Isky's is the fact that they are a pain in the ***, so the alignment can be easily screwed up if you don't know what you're doing. IMO, the Trick Flows are a better bet. I am using them on my 383.

To each their own, of course.

Buddy of mine has 3/8" pushrods on his stock ported heads with Isky adjustables. Why wouldn't 3/8" fit? Just curious...
