Best LT headers for the money?
I was wondering what you guys think the best LT headers are for an LT1? I have around $500 to spend and am wanting to get the headers and y pipe ordered and on the car by friday? Any ideas? I was thinking LPP but they still dont have any. I would also consider something used as long as they are in good shape.

Youll have alot of opinions on the matter. For me, it was worth the $300 for the ebay headers that require some finessing to get to fit.
Others will tell you go get a set of pacesetters.
Youd have to look through the parts classified section to find any used headers.
GL with your choice.

do you mean the jet hots for 399? I just got mine from ws6store, great products to me. The larger downside to this over the Pacesetters is the y pipe for the jet hots is 200$ vs 125$ for the pacesetter y pipe.

Yes those are the ones. Do they come with the same warranty as other jet hot headers where you can get them recoated again once for free if th coating starts coming off? And do you know how they compare to Pacesetters? And how was the fitment?

they are basically hooker super comps with a sterling jet hot coating. Yes they have the warrenty papers included in the packaging. As far as fitment go the hardest part is getting them into the car, But like all long tube headers, this is a problem. The drivers side is a little easier then the passenger side. The car needs to be HIGH off the ground to allow clearance to swing the bottoms down to get the tops to slide in correctly. The fitment other then that is great. Compared to my pacesetters i think they fit better, the passenger side isnt near as close to the inner fender as i remember. And the 2 peice #1 primary makes the drivers side vs steering linkage a breaze. Bolting them up is pretty interesting. you have to install some bolts befor others, youll learn which ones they are. my pacesetters reqired this too, im sure any of them do since some primarys are very close to the bolt holes in the flanges.
To me the Hooker Y pipe is what sets them apart, its design looks alot more free flowing then the rest. it looks more like a y instead of a lower case "h" lol.
Im very very happy with mine, I got them when the ebay headers didnt want to fit at all and i was tired of dealing with it. Literally just ordered them a week ago or so. The pacesetters went on a 94 Camaro Z28, the jet hots on a 94 trans am. didnt have to beat any of the jet hots, had to take a hammer to the pacesetters once. The real question is how they work with the engine running and i cant tell you that yet. The pacesetters loved to rattle on the k member or something, i hope the jet hots dont!

^^ thats really the main thing i can say about the jet hots, They went in without hammering.
Neither the pacesetters nor ebay stainless stayed away from the hammer. Some people just have luck though and the pacesetters fit without a problem, and some people have more luck and the ebays fit without a problem.
I would say the jet hots with the hooker y pipe probably flow the best of the group...Hooker y pipe is on bottom...

A little out of your price range new, but if you can find a set of used TPIS longtubes I'd grab them. They fit great. Also, I was able to do my very first LT1 spark plug change completely from the top with the car sitting on the ground only removing the alternator for clearance.
As for the Y-pipe: if you aren't in a huge rush, get a Magnaflow or Flowmaster Y merge and build your own or have your local exhaust shop build it. It will flow much better than any of the ones I've seen with any brand headers. You will have more control over how the pipe tucks under the car this way too. If you can do it yourself, it will not cost anymore than an off the shelf Y-pipe.
I'm planning a 3" to 3.5" Flowmaster Y collector into a 3.5" bullet muffler of some sort (Dynomax?) with a 3 bolt flange on the end. From there, I will have a bolt on 3.5" to 3" cone reducer into my I pipe. When I want to really try to run a number....I can unbolt my catback and bolt on a 3.5" turndown or just leave it open.

The post above mine was made while I was typing. LOL That Hooker Y pipe looks much better than other off the shelf ones I've seen, but it still wouldn't flow what a Y built with Flowmaster or Magnaflow collector type Y would. Soxxpuppet (spelling?) has a very good thread on his custom Y pipe on here if you can find it.
