Default ignition control module

ok i have a lt1 in a s10, it keeps blowing the icm. i have replaced it 4 times. i noticed that when i had the belt off and the alternator wasnt turning it was would run fine and never have a problem. but when i put the belt on and the alternator makes juice the icm only last for about 1 min. can anybody help me. this is starting to cause havoc.
thanks in advance.

Is your alternator overcharging? Have you monitored voltage? Have you checked wiring and grounds?

shbox.com has all the wiring diagrams. Unplug the ICM and check the wiring. You should have battery voltage on pin A, pin C should go right to the cylinder head (ground). D goes to the coil and B to the PCM. If the alternator is generating too much voltage you would still have to be dealing with a wiring problem as the battery is not going to just go up in voltage that quick. You do have a decent battery in this right? You not using jumper cables to crank it? Did you check the grounds between the engine and chassis? You could unplug the alternator's sense wire and see what happens. (The thin wire.)

Wish you were in Tucson. I'd like to see this one. When the ICM dies what codes are in the PCM? When the ICM quits, exactly what is the result? No spark I'm sure but are the PCM pulses there? Look up the codes 41 and 42 (ICM problems) at least one of those codes kills the fuel, IIRC. I'm still concerned with the grounds. Is the negative battery terminal connected to the block or the chassis? And what year is the engine and PCM?
