I've always just used run of the mill welded mufflers. <$40 locally and they sound about the same as a 40 series. Flowmaster is just a name anymore...

A knock-off of an already bad muffler can't be that good. Or could it? Maybe it is an improvement.

lol

what type of car/ exhaust setup would it be going towards. I'd buy a better muffler ex. magnaflow or a bullet style, for alittle more and get a custom setup at a shop, my opinion.

Ha! sorry bout the caps guys, it was late and i didnt have my glasses, yeah i wasnt sure bout em either. The car is an 80 trans am with a bolt on lt1, auto, flowtech long tubes no cats true 2.5 duals. I have generic turbos on it now and they sound ok but not loud enuff, I'm just looking for something that sounds mean and costs as little as possible. I like how Flowmasters sound, why do you guys say they suck? I'm curious.Any reccomendations???? thx

I heard from a guy that owns a restomod shop that flowmaster is actually producing 40 series "knockoffs" now for like 35 bucks each. Im not sure of the name they branded them under but some of these knockoffs may be made by flowmaster.

yeah i wouldn't call $68 shipped for a knockoff flowmaster a good deal. i got a real magnaflow for $84 shipped last year.
