Default New PB MPH with hotcam after porting and lid

Finally got a chance to get some decent runs in yesterday at cecil county, MD. I had run it a few times since I ported my stock heads and adding the lid but didnt have dr's so never really got any good runs in, didnt get much traction. Ran it yesterday with a new set of 255/50/16 M/T's on stock 5 stars and my front C5 street wheels with 245/45/17's. Ran a new best MPH of 116.49 at 12.3 with a crappy 1.92 60 Track conditions were pretty lousy, it had rained there all week and they only ran one lane trying to dry it out, weather was decent though temps around 70. I didnt spin on this run but just couldnt get it to launch right, best 60 I could muster all day was a 1.89. I finally realized I hadnt rechecked my pinion angle after adding a new set of adjustably LCA's recently, checked it when I got home and it was around -8 Readjusted it and set at -2. I'm pretty certain this was why I couldnt manage a decent 60 no matter what I tried, glad I didnt push it any harder, probably could've f'd up my driveline. Going to try and run it again there next Sat, I know with the MPH I'm running I can hit a high 11 with a good 60, thats been my goal since porting the heads. I want to hit an 11 with this set up before going with a LE2 H/C. Just curious, for any other M6 guys trapping 116-117 what RWHP are you at? Wondering how much I have picked up since the changes I made, my raceweight is around 3450 last I checked.

That's cranking out, man, nice job! Are you going to get it back on the dyno after the new mods?

Yeah, I'd really like to see what I picked up on the dyno too, want to try to get it dyno'd again soon, just have to find someone running a dyno day in my area. Dont really want or need to get it dyno tuned, feels like the pcmforless tune I got must be real close, cant imagine I could pick up much more. After going with the LE2 H/C I probably will dyno tune it. I'm thinking with my current MPH and a 3450 race weight I may be in the 370+ rhwp range? Does that sound about right? Wish I could figure out what the DA was yesterday but the slip didnt list relative humidity or baro pressure, I just know the track is at 325' and temps were near 70. I've always run my best times at this track though.

Thats where I looked, for some reason it doesnt list any weather info for cecil county, md from yesterday? They usually list on on their slips at this track too but didnt yesterday for some reason. Oh well.

400? Seriously? I'd be blown away if it dynoed that high, I'd be thrilled if I was in the 370-380 range. I'm thinking this lid works really well at the track, ever since I added it I was blown away by the difference in throttle response from a roll, much faster response than my old CAI. Hell, starting to wonder how much rwhp that thing added. My best MPH before the porting and lid was 115, but that was with lightweight telstar skinnies and 15" rears plus a killer -45 DA that day and 42 deg temps. Im really wondering what this set up is going to run in similar weather...cant wait for the fall now

It really depends on the weather, etc. 3450 race weight is pretty light, so I think your 370-380 guess won't be far off.

Nice runs for the hot cam; gives me a lot of hope for my 355 hot cam lt1. I really think I can hit 11s with my 355 le1 head hot cam motor, but I am running a 3200 stall with a newly rebuilt 4l60e along with 3.42s. Yours is running great for what it is and 11s are possible. I heard the lid swap is worth anywhere from 15-20rwhp.

Did you have it tuned? I've always used pcmforless for my tuning, I've always been really happy with his programming for this cam. I didnt go real crazy with my porting being that it was my first attempt, had my heads flowed and they were in the stock LT4 range, I was pretty happy with it. Yeah, now Im beleiving I could have picked up 15+ from the lid swap.

Bryan at PCMforless also did my tune; my car ran great the one time that I had it on the road but I am trying to work out a few bugs. I am going to be doing the LTCC conversion with 8 ls2 coils and I need to go through my wiring harness for shorts in the ignition system. I am running a 355 11:7:1 compression with stainless valve le1 heads, so I figure the car better do 11s with a stalled auto or it is going to be disappointing. It gives me a lot of hope seeing cars like yours running as good as they do with the hot cam; I was going to do the cc503, but I just ended up keeping my little hot cam.

He has always done a great job with his mail order tuning for this cam, he probably knows it better than any other being how long its been around. Its days like yesterday that I wish I had a stalled auto, I know I could have hit a high 11. So many variables in launching an M6, oh well, it keeps things interesting, lol. With LE1 heads, good programming and the rest of your mods I would think you should easily run a high 11 or better.

Ya your prob in the 380 range but thats pretty damn good for a hotcam.. I would upgrade the cam and see what happens b4 you get new heads. Thats a very good MPH for what your describing.

Not sure about the 15-20 HP on the lid

But deff a great mod my car went from trapping low 106.XX to almost Trapping 108 just with that alone and no tuning and Solomon and PCMforless told me there is things you need to get tuned for the lid for it to maximize performance

Yeah I think the lid probably helps more on the track/steet than stationary on a dyno. Either way for what it cost it was well worth it. Didn't know about tuning changes with the lid, I may be adding a 58 mm tb soon, I'll ask about tuning changes for the lid too.

GREGG 97Z I like your setup and hope you get into the 11's. I am getting my car dyno tuned on the 4th of June at EPS by Geoff. (mods in sig)I am aiming for 11.9x or better after the tune. Please keep us updated!!
