Default Tips to getting the best MPG out of our lt1's

Other than having a engine with little blow-by, good compression, plugs, wires, cap-n-rotor, functioning at or around 128 blm in closed loop, ( a proper running engine) post your tips to obtaining the best mpg. Now that I've reached somewhat of a glass ceiling with my car as far as power goes I'm looking to raise the mpg mostly with the tune. Any ideas? Please post all the little things as they all add up.

Its more complex then i think people think.. I can baby my car from top off to top off and get anywhere from 12-14mpg (city and some highway) or i could beat on it all day and get around the same gas mileage!

It really sucks because when i first got the car i was getting 17 city and 27 highway stock!

The BEST thing you can do is not daily drive one of these cars. Get a civic/accord corrola/camry whatever you want too just a jap 4 banger or even a 6. they pretty much take care of everything wrong with these cars because you honestly just forget about it. You get in your fbody that is a toy or a 2nd car and you can actually start to like your car again. You get to feel the power it has, the awesomness if you will. And then during the day you get 30-40mpg in a beater 4 banger car thats quiet, has a nice ride, and preferably cold a/c.

Also, the new ninja 250's get like 60mpg lol. Have a bike thats paid off, with basic ins for 10-25$ a month ( i was down to 18$ on my 2000 gsxr 750 lol). Then you get to spend a nice 12$ a week in gas. The only issue with this is winter.

But really, you own a procharged v8, stop whining lol. You did it to yourself and now you get to live with it.

Yeah so instead of getting 19mpg, he'll get 20. Sell a V8 and buy another V8 to improve gas mileage, sounds like an intelligent idea.

And the payback period for a $2500 car + insurance will be many years.

I miss my car when it was stock. I pulled 30mpg + /- a bit out of it ONCE all highway. Did around 400km on just shy of half a tank roughly.

I've got a 2.2 s10 if you've ever drove one you understand how big of a chore it is to get up to 55, hell unloaded dump trucks can take the 2.2 up to 20mph I just remember getting well over 20 and think I could do better than the 14-16 the lt1's gettin. What about a very large bypass valve to release all the drag off the turbine?

bicycles get around 500 calories/mile.. But seriously gas mileage and V8s don't work together very well in most situations. Only time i see an Fbody get anything close to decent mpg by today's standards are when they are bone stock, great running condition, used mainly on the freeway/highway.

I don't mean to sound like an ******* or anything but I've gotta ask, why are you concerned about trying to improve gas mileage on a procharged LT1? Of all engines man, you must be bored with your car lol.

buy a 1.5l honda engine from a 92 crx and do an engine swap.
Then when people ask you "Is that an ls1??" you can say "NO, but i get 40mpg in the city!!"

Yea I laugh when people buy new cars, or spend money modding their car for better fuel economy. The only exception to this was a girl I may or may not have banged a few times who commuted 50 miles each way to work in a V10 Excursion (10 Freeway into LA). She was getting about 9 mpg and could have paid off a $2500 Civic relatively quickly.

I told the best story I win.
