Add A/c to a 1le lt1?
O.K. tell me if I'm crazy, but someone wants to trade a 94 1LE for my 99 z28.....the 1le has about 100k less miles lol so I'm interested. I live in lower Alabama though so its freakin' hot.
Is is a wise idea to add a/c to a 1le camaro? About how much would this cost?
Does this trade seem like a good idea? My z28 has 170k miles and is a A4. The 1le has around 70k and is a 6 speed with moser rear end in much better condition......ideas

I dont know the difference in the 1le but if u mean no a/c.....do u mean no trace of it.?if so then yes its alot....u have all the engine components like dryer,compresser.hoses,etc....then the inside which is blower, hoses, and vents that guide the air.....and then switches and controllers....that some serious bit of work.....if 1le only has the engine Compartment parts missing......then around 500 for parts is about right....and not as bad.....could look at after market a/c products are cars are pretty old there might be stuff out there.....i hope this helps.

Yes 1le have no a/c from the factory .....ok seems like a lot of work, but I still.might do the swap.and never drive it in the summer.
And Default that's kinda what I was thinking except I was thinking of doing the trade and then taking the moser rearend out of it and putting it in my 00 SS.....which brings up another question will an lt1 rearend work on and ls1 car?

To clarify. I have 2 ls1 cars at the moment. A 99z28 which is the trade candidate and a 00 SS which im keeping......the z28 has a lot of miles and that's the only reason I'd consider the trade for a lt1.
And it helps that I have another ls1 and the 1le is rare

Just found the answer to my last question....an lt1 rearend will work on a ls1 car with different backing plates for the ls1brakes to work.
This trade might be nicer than I thought. Only thing about the rear end though is that he said he is running 3.73 gears. Would higher be better like 4.10s? Can that be changed cheaply?

Why molest a rare car? It was designed for road racing...why add more weight to it and options it never had? Might as well put some 22's on it and a big stereo system and some TVs in the headrests

If you are considering the 1LE just because of it's rarity, altering it just throws that out the window and makes it just like every other car. If you gotta have a/c, don't buy it. You'd need a donor car with a/c to get all the parts from to convert it. That seems like a lot of work.
