Default Compressing Valve springs while head on car.

So been thinking of way to attack this

I know that the lever tool will not work for the back cylinders so would using a bolt on the studs instead of the Poly locks and cutting the lever tool work to make a "Tim's tool" a member on here suggested that to me would this be a good idea?? because I know that screw down will not work either seeing as i have the patriot spring kit.

What you guys do???

I took a 1/2 thick piece of steel and made something like this I used a set of old stock studs and old stock rocker nuts to push the spring down.

If you cut the handle off of the lever tool, this is what you get:

(a Tim's Tool).

All you have to do is find the right length to cut at the handle. Measure the distance from the rocker stud to the end of the head and add about 1/8". Its not an exact science, just make sure you don't cut the tool soo short that it won't catch the head.

You can pay someone $30 and wait for them to ship you the Tim's Tool, or you can go to a parts store, spend $13 on a lever tool, measure and cut, and do your spring swap today.

i made a tool to do this for LS and LT Fbody's.......all it is is a hardened pice of 3/16 steel that i notched one end to fit over the retainer and the other end goes on the rocker stud you just tighten the nut down on the stud and it will compress the spring.........dont try it with SR springs it wont work lol.......but with a HR spring it will just fine........and it cost me about 8$ to make

I own the Crane and have used it many times. It works so well I would have payed double. It is the best tool for heads on spring swap. IMO, a bargain at $130 and most who have one would agree assuming you swap springs more than a few times.
