Default Is this clutch overkill for my setup?

Hey guys. Ill be pulling my trans for a rebuild and will be replacing the clutch at the same time. I am currently looking at a CC stage 4 segmented cermametallic clutch:

Right now the car has mods listed in my sig and I daily drive it. In late September I will be doing H/C/I. What do you think?

On the Competition Clutch web site it says the stage for is good for 700hp. For just a h/c/i car its probably over kill, but it's priced good. I would look into a Ram powergrip or powergrip hd or even a Spec stage 2 as some other options

I've been running an unsprung spec 4 clutch in mine for years and it's just a hotcam with lightly ported heads. I don't think you can go overkill on a clutch. I like to race it quite a bit which is why I chose it.

I would go with a spec 2 or 2+. I don't have experience with the clutch you listed but my old spec was good to me. Stay away from the puck design clutches otherwise they are likely to be rough on the street. You may also want to look into a flywheel depending how badly yours looks.

I daily drive with a spec stage 4 too. I don't mind it but any body that has ever ridden in the car or tried to drive it hates it. Its only on or off and it does chatter. Go with a full face clutch if you don't like chatter. If you want to go over kill check out the spec stage 3+, that's what I'm going with next

I have a spec stage 3 in mine and it's pretty easy to drive on the street and it holds power pretty well.

I have over 20k on my powergrip HD, it drives just like a gripper stock clutch with no chatter and easy modulation.

I have bolt ons and I'm using a Spec 3+... Sure it's overkill, but if I ever want high horsepower at least I don't have to replace the clutch.

Solid hub puck type is worthless. NONE of the fast manual cars use them and they suck on the street.

You ever run one? What exactly is worthless about them?

When I bought my spec 4 back 5-6 years ago there was a lot of talk of people breaking the sprung center section on the spec 1-3 types. It sounds like they have made improvements to the design, I don't hear of many failures these days. Mine still grabs very good after 100+ passes in the low 12's, I get a little chatter from it if you try pulling out slow. The solid hub is still one less thing to worry about breaking to me.

Maybe if you're I kid I kid. They're not near as bad as everyone say they are on the street. I've been dd on my stage 4 for 2 years and I love it, and it grabs better then any other clutch I've had in the car
