Default Have to be 100% realistic here

Alright guys so most of you know my situation. Just got laid off recently waiting on stuff with the air force to get started on life.

My car now either the starter or Alternator is bad and is drawing power and will not let the car start because of a ground truly don't have the money to fix it. This car has been nothing but a money pit (like all cars) and I just can't and don't have the money to keep throwing at it. And truly in my situation like i said I have to be 100% realistic about this and knowing keeping it won't do me any good

HIGHLY considering selling it and buying something a long the lines of a stock LT1/LS1 car or just a nice DD or something thats good on gas and keeping it stock till after I come back from the AF. Just not sure how to sell it. I was thinking selling it for 4500 bucks and including EVERY LT1 part I have with it (extra bottom end, Intake, 2 converters, TB's and bunch Opti, etc etc) That or parting it out just not sure what would net the most. I know I'll probably catch a bunch of sh*# for this but its hard times right now and just something I can't see continuing doing with the money situation and such.

Tell me what yall think this is probably the best forum I am apart of even though most you guys don't seem to like my presence to much.............

I would fix it and then sell it as a whole. The other extras can be either sold serperately or used to "sweeten" the deal.. Pull the starter and alternator and have em checked at your local auto store. Not much work involved at all and should be free to get it checked.

Yeah I have another alternator and stuff I'm take up here and get tested along with the starter. I have video of the car running and receipts for everything thats gone into the car but I have a feeling one of the two has gone bad.

How bout you sell some of your collection of spare parts ("extra bottom end, Intake, 2 converters, TB's and bunch Opti, etc etc") and fix the damn thing.

Your problem is small - either a fused solenoid, shorted alt, or maybe just a bad ground somewhere. It would be silly to sell a car for something so minor.

Its not JUST that.. I got laid off meaning I won't be able to drive the thing because of gas prices I'm about to enlist into the Air force and everyone knows with performance builds there is NOO getting around that parts are going to fail and at this point I don't have the money to be putting into it and need to get something that is reliable vs. being fast

Like Puck was saying, sell or heck trade off some spare parts to repair whatever is wrong now. Maybe after that selling it is still the right choice, but at least it will be easier to sell running and you can get more for it.

Only thing I can think of would be the EWP but we have been running that straight from the battery with a switch while we have been sorting things out. Other then that No the car had an amp and stuff in the back but that has since been disconnected and done away with. when i first got the car. other then that don't see why anything should be pulling power.

a relay could be toast and feeding back into the ground, a wire cut and grounding out in front of a fused source (so it wouldn't pop the fuse). a good term to remember is KISS (keep it simple stupid) i'm not saying your stupid. i bet the issue is a simple fix if you will relax, slow down and look for it.

Got it to fire up today so I can prove it runs to who ever ends up wanting it with all the parts included I think i might end up with the 4500

4L60E
Short Block
Intake
Injectors
ICM's
Coils
2 Optis

I'm not going to lie here with this I probably bit off more then I could chew with my budget I still actually owe my dad 550 bucks from getting the other Firebird but then again wasn't expecting to lose my job.

Sell off the new junk and motor and put the old back in. You're set with money to spare.

Dude just hang on. You'll start getting that military pay. Things won't be the most awesome, but I've gotten by for the last 12 years on a military salary. Problem is small and on base you'll have a full garage available to you to work on your ride. Patience friend.
