Default Running Hotter on the Highway Than In Town

I noticed yesterday that my car runs hotter on the highway than it does in town. What could cause this? I have a stock thermostat in it right now, but the fans are set up for a 160* thermostat if that makes any difference.
Here is where it runs at in town:

and this is what it runs at on the highway:

I would have thought that it should run cooler when going faster.

Is the air dam on the car?

My first guess too. I'm assuming you're driving on the highway for awhile and it's still running hotter? Mine will slowly come down when on the highway. Get under there or unbolt your rad support and make sure you don't have a trash bag or other trash/road debris up there in the fans or radiator.

I'd also check the thermostat to ensure it is not sticking.

If your fans are set up for a 160* thermostat there's a good chance they are not turning off on the highway like they are supposed to.

So I should either put the right thermostat in or change back the fan settings I guess.

I had a chuckle when I compared your two pictures. The last thing I would be worried about is a 3-degree difference in temperature.

No offense of course, but that difference is hardly a concern, IMO.

my car does this.......i run 210-215 on the highway but 190 in town..........for me my stock radiator just doesn't have the capacity to cool down the water as fast as a high compression motor can heat it sitting at 3000rpm down the higway.......regardless of airflow........if i was to run a more efficent radiator this would go away........in your case im guessing there is an airflow restriciton.......check for debris in the radiator fins......grass/plastic bags/leaves/animals and small children....

lol Well it was a much larger difference before. That's just where I seemed to be able to take pictures at.

Anyways, I have another question: I don't remember how hot the car would run when I first got it, but it seems like it was cooler than that... Is that about where the car should run temp wise with the stock thermostat?

Alright. Thanks. lol I feel like a bit of an idiot... I am going to go ahead and change the fan settings back to stock and see if the temp doesn't rise 3 degrees.

Well, you see... I took a picture when I was stopped (just after exiting the highway). As you can see the RPM's are at 0 as well. The gauges just stay up at the exact spot that I shut the car off at.

Stock LT1 radiator is very good. What water pump are you running?

Last time I saw something like this posted, the guy had a shopping bag that managed to get stuck between his condenser and radiator.

Do you still have all the ducting that seals off the radiator to the inlet area in front of the air dam?

Don't know. Haven't looked for it specifically. I think I would have noticed if it was missing when I was under it last night... no?

Have you took off the plastic piece under hood and looked at radiator to see if anything is blocking it?

Mine runs 210 in town with 90+ degree heat with new waterpump. used be like 230 or so in town. And it gets down to 180 on highway before and with new water pump.
