Default Weird New Humming Sound

Have a new humming sound that has just starting on my car. After just finishing the new motor and breaking it in i put 3.5k on it and everything was mint so i took it on a 8hr trip to the TA Nationals in Ohio. Everything was fine going down and didnt much notice it coming home but i know when we got home and stopped i definetly noticed the loud hum. Im pretty sure its either the fans or the EWP. Nothing is leaking and the temps arent going up. This sound is noticeably louder so there is something up and not just my fans on.

Any ideas or what i can test to see what the problem is before something craps out and then it becomes a serious problem?

You could take off the serpentine belt to isolate the alt/pwr steering from the engine and go from there.

I agree. That would be step #1. If you remove the belt and start the motor and hear nothing, then it is either the A/C, P/S, or alternator. If it still does it at idle in neutral then you have a problem with the motor itself, but I am betting it is accessory related.

Well i have update on this issue. First off i relocated my alt downlow using the stock bracket and have had issues with belt squeel and eating belts. Always squeeled or chirped for a bit when first started untill warm. I still think the alignment is off somewhere. I did pull the belt and let it run and it seemed quiet. Put the belt back on and started chirping and squeeling. I tracked down where that noise is coming from and its the PS pump. I still cant hear the original issue which was the hum. It might likely be that once it gets hot from driving and the chirp and squeel goes away but the louder hum starts? Im not totally sure if thats what my hum is but there is definetly as issue with the ps pump though.

Check the PS Bolts to make sure it is secure...when MINE started squealing, it was because one of my PS bolts broke and the other had walked out.
