355 LE2 Build w/ Pics
I pulled the engine because it was filthy and I needed to paint the engine bay. Figured since it was already out I might as well do a basic rebuild to freshen it up. Well one thing lead to another and I got a little carried away. Now it should be a pretty stout LT1 when it's all said and done.
Parts List (may not be pictured):
Probe Forged Flat Top Pistons
Scat Forged 6" Rods
Balanced Rotating Assembly
Lunati Timing Set
Scat Flexplate
TCI Balancer
Lloyd Elliott Cam 226/232 576/571 @ 110
Lloyd Elliott Ported Intake
Holley 52mm Throttle Body
LE2 Heads
Fel-Pro MLS .039 Gaskets
Oil Cooler Delete
LS7 Lifters
Comp Hi-Tech 7.150 Pushrods
Proform 1.6 Roller Rockers
Melling High Volume Pump
Milodon Pickup and 30909 Pan
LS6 Injectors
ARP Bolts and Studs Throughout
Energy Suspension Mounts
Almost every single bolt, seal, and gasket is new from GM. Only reused a handful of original parts because they were discontinued.
------------------------------Update 18NOV2011------------------------------
Here's a pic with a few more shiny parts added.
Chrome water pump
Chrome alternator
Polished valve covers
Stainless headers
EGR block off plates
------------------------------Update 05FEB2012------------------------------
Motor and trans back in the car. Running a Yank SS3200 Stall. Pics coming soon!
Also looks like I'm going to need to run spacers under the engine mounts. Oil pan is touching the steering rack.
------------------------------Update 20MAR2012------------------------------
Motor is in and most components are installed. Still taking my time to cover every little detail.
Replaced EVERY SINGLE STINKING BOLT with chrome. Even the ones nobody will ever see.
Pretty proud of myself about this.
Moved the column over but I'm still going to need an LS1 steering shaft.
Fresh black undercoat before the new liners go in. Going to relocate the fuel lines too.
New Koni struts and Energy Suspension mounts.
Shimmed the mounts. Have a wee bit o clearance now.
Got a Yank 3200 behind that dust pan. Can't wait to drive it!
More updates coming soon fellas!
------------------------------Update 26JUN2012------------------------------
Update... IT'S ALVIE!!! I have a crappy cell phone video of the first start. I'll try to upload it later tonight.
------------------------------Update 18JUL2012------------------------------
And here's the video we've all been waiting for. Nothing special but you can hear the cam. No tune, open y-pipe, no air filter, bumper tacted on, no interior, no lights... you get the idea.

Thanks guys! TB opens slightly past 90 degrees when pushed to the stop. Ordering some more parts this week so hopefully I can post a pic of the engine completely assembled sometime soon. As far as bikes, the R1 is my roomies. Both Busa's are mine and they are both for sale.

Always bugged me about the holley that's why I sold mine. Someone did a flow test and found a 54mm asm tb flowed more than the 58 holley opened to the stop which is like being closed a little the other way. I think I remember him modifying his stop so it was very close to being fully open.

then the LT1 is for you!!!
I feel like Rocky Balboa with my car. You keep getting beat up on for 11 rounds, but you keep getting back up to fight that 12th round to come out on top and then your almost too tired to celebrate victory.
(I haven't gotten to the 12 round with my car yet, but hopefully I'm getting close)
OP, looks like a nice build. What springs are those and what SCR are you aiming for? Sounds like you're staying around stock 10.5?

Should be ordering some shiny parts this week. Waiting on return email. As far as power goals. I'd like to be somewhere in the 380-400hp range. Never built an auto car before so I expect to loose a little more hp due to drivetrain. Once it's good and broke in and I pay the credit card down some I'd really like to spray it 120-150ish. Prolly be a 12 sec car all motor and 11 sec on spray??? I'd be happy with that.
